I don't see why not.  Defence is a big issue for me.  Our defence look shaky in and out of possession.  We need to sort that out as we seem to be shooting ourselves in the foot far too often.

I think it really depends on how many do end up going out, as to what would constitute a good summer. Can't just be buying replacements for the inevitable departures, need to be picking up a few more to challenge the starting XI, combined with some youngsters coming up through the ranks in order to strengthen what has been a far too weak squad for far too long.

Those three would definitely improve the first 11 but we need to improve the squad as well. Another winger/wide forward is needed and 1 maybe 2 more in midfield on top of those mentioned. This season has shown that we lack quality and depth in a number of areas when we have injuries.

I wish it was as easy as add a few quality players, but this season has shown us that our current starting 11 is good enough to be competitive (but not necessarily title challenging) but with any injuries or players off form, our performances drop significantly.

Getting Enrique, Cahill and Young (Sanchez would be better alternative in the perfect world) would be a good start for the summer season but not nearly enough. We need 2nd LB (unless we can bring back Insua as back up) DM such as M'vila or Lass, Adam as playmaker (unless Aquilani would come back), maybe box-to-box type of mid as such as Sissoko or Javi Martinez and Goetze, Hazard or Honda type of attacking mid with some pace.

On top of that we need to bring few freebies and younger unproven talent to improve our squad as we will need to release/sell quite a bit of deadwood on our books.

Do we even have any interest in Coentrao?  Seems like we've been so focused on Baines and Enrique... As I've said before, I still don't think Madrid going to be buying a new LB, Marcelo has been great for them.  But you can never tell with Madrid.

I want to see more competition to Lucas and Meireles in the midfield. Good players, but they both need pushing, in my opinion. Getting in a defensive midfielder as well as Aquilani/Adam would sort that out. Plus depth is needed in that area since we're playing Spearing in place of Gerrard, which says it all really. I think Stevie could do with a push as well.

Skrtel has been poor for several months, though he seems to have picked himself up somewhat in the past couple of weeks, so fair play to him. There needs to be far more of a shake up at centre back.

Kuyt shouldn't be starting every game. There are attributes he brings to games that are invaluable against the big teams, but it means he is not very useful against inferior opposition.
