Kenny gets 2 years, and go from there. As someone else stated, we don't have to worry about him being poached from another club. He is ours, for as long as we want him. 2 years will allow him to rebuild the team, and take from there.

I can't believe people are questioning his ability in Europe. Did you not see the players we had out of those games? Obviously, no Torres since he left. Both his replacements missed some games, Suarez all of them, and Carrol only made one start, his first one. Gerrard out injured too. His European Record (as a manager) isn't a great one, no, but he has limited experience due to the ban at the time in the 80's. He did take Blackburn into the CL, where they didn't fair too well, but it was all new to him. And lets not forget, Steve Clarke has worked with Jose in big CL games, and knows how to win them.

I reckon Kenny and Clarke both get 2 years. And, depending on the situation, I wouldn't be surprised if Steve Clarke was given it full time after. But that is a long way off, yet.

Still think FSG are looking at alternatives. They know that although Dalglish wants the job he will also do what is best for the club.

If FSG convince Kenny a new name working with Commoli is the best way to go, Dalglish will step aside.

I met a still respected ex-LFC player recently and I said to him "Kenny or Mourhino?" He grimaced and said "Mourhino (if he'd come), he'd unite everyone but Kenny would have to be happy about it which he thinks he would".
I agreed about Mourhino being an excellent choice but suggested it would be very, very divisive amongst the fans.

We agreed that Kenny would have to publicly endorse any other choice or there would be chaos again.

All irrelevant really as I don't think the owners will look any further than Kenny. New players, new season, happy fucking days.

Mourinho would be a shit choice. God, the football his teams play is awful. Really bloody awful. Sure he wins, but he's like a winning version of hodgson.

You could forget about bringing our youngsters through, it would be older pros all the way, with plenty of hoofball to look forward to.

King kenny all the way for me.

If anyone asked any United fan, "Fergie or Mourinho?" I'm sure the answer will be "Fergie". It is the same for us, Kenny is my choice for the manager's job, he knows the club inside out and understands us, the fans and the club better than anyone else. Kenny cares about the club and while I'm sure Mourinho would like us to win if he is to be our manager, he would look at any achievement with us as a chance to make his CV more impressive, Kenny would look at any tournament he wins with us as a chance to make us happier and a chance to make Liverpool more dominant name in Europe & England.

That's why I'd take Kenny every time ahead of Mourinho, hell, I won't even take Mourinho as Kenny's replacement two years from now if Kenny decides he doesn't want to continue, Rafa Benitez, Pep Segura or Steve Clarke should take the helm from Kenny after he departes.

John Henry said that he won't say if FSG are in contract talks with Kenny or not as that is an internal matter and that shouldn't be public. He said it is the Liverpool way. Basically, we'll know on the official site when Kenny's contract is signed & sealed.

  • We are united that we are not United
The plain fact is that if there was a table made up from the 6th of January to date we would be top (although Arsenal and Chelsea would have games in hand). I think that is testament enough given, if you are to take the words of the former manager, our squad is not good enough. All this talk of modern tactics bugs me a bit as the only managers who avoid this sort of stuff are Ferguson, Redknapp and Holloway who seem to thrive on it. I had enough tactics talk with the last one, I'll take passion and nous for now and buy in the tactics with people like Clarke.

Excellent.

yeah, i agree.
dalglish has done a tremendous job since he took over, that form table has been over about 10 games as well which equates to over a quarter of the season, considering how low confidence was earlier on this season and how erratic this squad has performed over the past 2 years he has done more than a good job.

Can we not even speculate about the prospect of Mourinho ever, ever being linked with Liverpool especially with Kenny around.
Disgusting idea. Upsetting idea. Terrible, terrible, idea.

Think it'll all be sorted out in the summer, hope it will be anyway.
Even if every top manager in the world (aside from our one) became available and threw their hat in the ring, the only response would be thanks Mr. Guardiola, Ancelloti, Hiddink, etc. but no thanks.

If ever there was a right man for a job, it is Kenny for the one he currently occupies.

Disgusting idea.

This ^^^

Its utterly bizarre to me that this is being mentioned at all by any Red to be honest. In real life, I don't know a single person who would want anything other than what we have at the moment, and going on into the next few seasons at least.

Kenny is what this club needs now, at this moment in our history, a moment of transition and a moment when we need healing and bringing together, the support and the players. The last 3 years and in particular the last season and a half, intensified under Hodgson to a million degrees, have been the most wretched, horrible, divisive sickness of our lifetimes. Kenny takes us beyond that like nobody else can, and he is getting the results too in a manner in keeping with our aspirations.

Telegraph with some quotes from John Henry they're interpreting positively. Like the swipe at Hodgson after his sour comments about us today.

“What is going on in that regard is private,” Henry said. “It is something called the Liverpool Way and you do these things behind closed doors. I am not going to talk about these things. He has done very well.” Henry had a veiled dig at Dalglish’s predecessor, Roy Hodgson, when asked if there had been a change in mood since his takeover. “Absolutely, it’s all very positive,” he added. “Someone was saying that people weren’t happy here. But I think since that person left, people are happier.”

My stomach just turned a little when The King said in this interview "Fantastic owners, really supportive in the January transfer window, I'm sure they will be again in the summer, and whoever that's for are going to be very fortunate to be working with some very good owners."

Can't even think about him leaving, so my fingers and everything else are crossed that the very fortunate person Kenny is referring to is himself!

Not gonna happen anyway, if he left RM Man City would snap him up immediately and they got what he wants, bottomless pockets to spend on players, that's his way

Points from first ten games: 12
Points from next ten: 13

Points from next 10 games under Dalglish: 20

Ergo, if Kenny were the manager from the start of the season Liverpool would have 60 points and up to their necks in the title race:  :o

The performances under Dalglish in Europe have been dreadful.

In the league he's delivered improvement.

Should he get the job? He's certainly the best candidate I can think of who would realistically come to the club. The only manager who is better credentialled and would take the job if offered is Rafa....  8)

Funnily for me that isnt what it is about with Kenny. There is still a lot of healing to do and he is the man for the job. There are two potential storms ahead, Reina in the summer and the new stadium. Kenny is better placed to manage those situations than anyone.

I'm not worried about when Kenny is given a long-term contract. He knows the fans and the club inside out and would never go elsewhere when the job is open to him, and, after a number of years, he would know when the time was right to step down and hand the baton on. His relationship with the owners will mean that everybody is on the same page. The way he's united the club and got the team playing largely excellent, committed football, including taking Manchester United to pieces, as well as putting together a defensive masterplan away at Chelsea, is nothing short of exceptional after the horrorshow that was the Hodgson era. He'll get the job, no doubt: I have no concerns about the direction we are heading in.

I think so too. Roy spent all his time talking about how the supporters weren't being fair with him.
The one most important thing that we all must remember, in case it slipped our mind, is this club is much more important and bigger than anybody. I'll never forget that and anybody that does is being a wee bit irresponsible and stupid I think because the club is more important than any one individual. The Club is, The Club.

There you go Leo - a reminder of all those scintillating press conferences - he always knew we'd finish in the top...er...   Enjoy!

Hodgson reflected: “The truthful answer is I am enjoying it [being at WBA than at Anfield] more because no-one likes to be in a situation where the work you are doing is not appreciated.

“I am in a situation here where it is appreciated though.

“This is very much a honey-moon period in the sense we also haven’t had many games.

“As a result when you have not had many games people do tend to be happier bunnies.

“If we get a result against Arsenal, March will have been a very good month.”

Hodgson was booted out of Liverpool after Premier League defeats to Wolves and Blackburn saw the club slide down the table.

He added: “We lost two games at Liverpool when we were seventh or eighth in the league which put us down to 12th.

“If you get pilloried for losing two games I suppose I was pilloried.

“I always knew at Liverpool we would finish in the top six, seven or eight once we got our players back.

“My misfortune was we also lost two games at the wrong time.

“And my misfortune was to be at a club where the fans made it pretty clear early on they really wanted the manager they have got now.

“But that side of it I think I accepted pretty gracefully.”
