Yes it's bad, but this just means carroll and suarez are given a run out together. Raul and Lucas in the middle. Kuyt on RM, with Cole/maxi on the left and suarez + carroll up top

If we can get past Braga (big if at the moment IMO) then he could be back for the QF's.

c*nt of a season this though.

If he had to be out for a while, this isn't the worst time for it. Will miss England's matches and only about 3 matches for us.

People talk crap about Wenger letting Vieira go, etc etc as examples:

What has Wenger won since letting his veterans go? Fuck All

What has Ferguson won since keeping his veterans (Giggs, Scholes) even when they were declining? Shit loads

Good points.

If this puts Lucas anr Raul back in the centre then its almost good news. Get well soon Stevie, you can come back fresh for the final run in of the season and hopefully the europa final.

Simply has to be Raul dropping back in the key games. Anything else is too risky for Kenny unless he wants to convert Agger or Maxi into a centre mid

giggs and scholes have been playing at a very high levels.
viera was sold because he was declining slightly.henry was sold had one productive season for barca and then vanished.
its not as black and white as how you put it.
if hes declining as a footballer then it would make sense for us to cash in on him.

Definitely not good news. Better now though. We'll need him for the last few games and maybe Europa last rounds.

good thing you mentioned Scholes, who I can definitely relate Stevie to.
He had a season full of injuries in 05-06 season which resulted him playing only 27 games in all competitions and scoring only 3 goals.  The difference was Ferguson didn't turn his head thinking, well that gingerboy has been one of my best players for more than a decade now, been injured and off form for a couple of seasons, fuck the bastard let's get rid and buy Djembaz for him. He instead managed him more properly, with a slight change in his playing role, and now at 37, he is still the best CM they have. and of course still #WINNING and challenging for top prizes.

If Gerrard is declining, you don't sell him. You buy players with whom you can rotate him, so he won't get as much injuries. Gerrard is still a force and I'd much rather than Gerrard on the bench (just in case) than ANY 7 bench players we have had for 80% of this season combined. This Gerrard hate is so boring here, can't get any more disgraceful than that so called LFC fan who went to Inter forums when Rafa was there and said "fuck Gerrard, he's always been average without Rafa, half of LFC fans hate him and wanted him gone, he is a shit captain". the only way we let Gerrard go is if someone coming through looks better than him ... even if it was fair to say he's not as influential as he was then he's declining from a standard few players ever reach and he's still better than most

easy boy.i want gerrard to regain his old form too.

you say scholes had 1 bad season.fair enough, they kept him and hes justifies that decision.gerrard has had two mediocore seasons ravaged by injury.hes 30 and aging.they got the best out of scholes by shifting his position.gerrard is a fantastic player with everything in his locker except discipline.the role which can prolong gerrards career requires discipline.if he can somehow curb his instincts and play for the team then brilliant,if not then its harming the team and if a decent enough bid comes in the summer he should go.

If Gerrard is declining, you don't sell him. You buy players with whom you can rotate him, so he won't get as much injuries

i think you misunderstood the point.it is not gerrards body declining.it is his game.

I'd much rather than Gerrard on the bench (just in case) than ANY 7 bench players we have had for 80% of this season combined

agreed.but that is because we generally have a paper thin squad.i think this point is rather mute because gerrard will no way accept being a bench player.

This Gerrard hate is so boring here, can't get any more disgraceful than that so called LFC fan who went to Inter forums when Rafa was there and said "fuck Gerrard, he's always been average without Rafa, half of LFC fans hate him and wanted him gone, he is a shit captain". no gerrard hate here.been one of the best players for the past decade according to me.but if its time to go then its time to go.

Would be good to hear more detailed report from the medical team, how it came to that, how the injury was managed until now, and what prompted the need for operation.

Last season he was second highest scorer, even after a bad season.  This season he's currently second again to Torres.  1 behind him I believe at the mo, so chances are he'll end up top scorer given Torres isn't here anymore.

Plus he bossed UTD midfield last week.

Yep, let's get rid.  Donkey.

haha well said.

It's funny how people think Gerrard had a poor game against utd just because he was disciplined but the same people will be the ones complaining about his lack of positional sense if he'd played "typical" Gerrard style.

Gutted that Gerrard is out.

We have no decent midfield replacements. Miereles admits he can't tackle and doesn't have an aggressive game. Poulsen is shit, and Spearing shows no signs of really be able to cut it at this level.

As for those 'let Gerrard go' posters - hang your heads in shame.

Raul will need to fill the vacancy. Without he and Gerrard, there's just not enough creativity with Poulsen and Spearing partnering Lucas.

There is a clause in his contract... He's entitled to them... ;)

On the serious side, I'm really curious how it came to that because i have a somewhat cynical view on his case...

Lucas needs to step up again.  But, I agree! Our midfield needs strengthening.  Maybe, dare I say, this opens a door for either Pacheco or Suso to get a chance?  Probably not as the latter isn't ready yet but who knows!

yea he was the second highest goalscorer in a season we finished 7th,this season has been even worse till dalglish came.how the hell can you just break down his contribution into the no of goals he scored?

we now have suarez and carroll with a winger on his way.raul is also an effective goal scoring option from mid.we need somone who can hold the damn team together with lucas and keep everything ticking over.if gerrard can do that then BRILLIANT let him stay.

strange you mention that game and not the ones against bolton etc where he left lucas on his own in the CENTRE of the park of all places.

fucking hell you dipshit, read the entire post clearly.i said if he can discipline himself and contribute the team let him stay but if he cant he is 30 and declining.selling him and getting somone who can fit into our system rather than modifying the system to suit gerrard can only benifit us.

No mate, it started with my reference to cynical (for the lack of better word) thoughts about the injury. Specifically, I think that Gerrard has played a significant role in aggravating the injury to the stage where it required operation. I have no proof of that, just putting elements of his last games together.
