What struck me most was the Everton and Liverpool fans going down to Wembley in the coach and singing together. Don't think that would happen this day in age (provided we ever both even made it to a Final!)

It's because they had a good team at the time that was succesful and challenging on all fronts. It wouldn't happen today because they have been average for so long and haven't won a trophy for 16 years. Instead of supporting their team they get sidetracked by jealousy, frustration and a bitterness towards our success.
Liverpool was made for me and I was made for Liverpool.

Great video, seen it last year.It was great how the fans travelled together back then and it was fitting that the first Wembley final between the clubs ended in a draw, even if it was a dull 0-0.Everyone went home satisfied i guess.
That right peg hits it and you see the future arc of the ball and time goes al gluey like a Dali painting, and for a second there's a 20yr old StevenGerrard and your young self cheering him on through the prism. His big smile fades in an the net is shivering and J.Hart's trying not to look grateful for the privilege of being that close to greatness

Actually Everton had been fairly shite, hadn't challenged for anything and hadn't been in Europe for a few years. It was about scousers sticking together against the rest of the country, wasn't just coaches 'Footy special' trains were split, mini-buses, the ground.

It was just a different time, lots of it about the countries perception of our city and our perception of their country.

Hansen handled the ball on the line thus writing another chapter in the (unfinished) 'Bumper Blue Book of Bitterness' which they can pass down for future generations to add more tales of how the 'murderers' denied them yet another trophy and history was changed forever!

And yet we needed a replay to finish them off.

Was the only time I ever went down to Wembley by coach, usually went by train or later car/train and remember the journey well on a mixed coach. The day was very wet but the atmosphere was still fantastic, though not as good as my favourite Merseyside Final in 86.

We always used to go to derby games in a mixed crowd. An all day affair starting in town and the "friendly derby" at its best.

One of the blues and one of the reds announced they were getting married in March of the following year. Immediate panic as there was always a derby game in March. Imagine our relief when we saw that the wedding only clashed with the Milk Cup Final…..

It was the first one ever to be televised live and was moved to the Sunday. So we all went to the wedding on Saturday, got up early on Sunday and headed off to Wembley together!

"This is the giro cup final" - classic  ;)

Really fun seeing a video like that.  Loved the fans travelling down together, and the banter with the people the meet along the way.

Seen a pissed up blue inside wembley getting dragged around by the bizzies when about half a dozen reds joined in and made a right commotion so the blue lad could do one, not sure if they caught him again but doubt you would see that again.
On a side note my scarf unravelled while out the window of the train and had to buy another outside the ground. It was hot and sweaty in the ground which left me with a bright red neck from the dye for a few days. Looked a right soft get.

I work with a bitter who's been telling everyone for the last 5 or 6 years his mate has actually written a book detailing all of liverpool's 'luck' over the years, and is just waiting to get it published!
I always remind him to tell his mate to include the fact we're the only team to lose 2 cup finals to penalties where the foul occurred outside the area, Inzhagi's handball goal in 2007, Yossi's disallowed goal in Madrid last year, several shitty own goals in semi's/ finals that have cost us over the years...

Just re-living the hangover from Hell, here. Had two young pup's on the go, our kid had emigrated to Oldham, get's to ours Friday night, straight up to the Queens's for a bevvy, as you do. Won a HUGE bottle of whiskey, both necked it to death, worst hangover in the World. Picked up at the Park Hotel, headed spinning like like a spinning top.  MADNESS great day's, happy memories.

Ended up in the Hawthorn in Bootle, cake holed, Mrs was in the Nethy waiting for us. Job done.

My dad still has a cup from this.

Still uses it as well. Always remember reading my dad's cup when I was a kid.
I'm really hoping Sturridge busts out the wacky dip when he scores.

Just over a month after I was born, Liverpool beat Everton to win the first trophy of my lifetime (although it took a replay!) :)

By the end of the season, Liverpool had added the League championship and the European Cup. What a season!
It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here/ and i'm most obliged to you for making it clear/ that i'm not here
