Snipers playing on rush is a joke, they basically contribute to nothing. I need to plant the charge and just because some little prick decides to lie down in a bush I have to spawn on him and be miles away from the objective, annoying twats.
Well, snipers are useless bastards in general, aren't they? Some may argue that they aren't and that they do some useful things. Like what, exactly? I've yet to see one of the bastards do anything remotely useful other than being an annoying twats by picking people off from long range. If an M-com is armed, forget about it, even if they are 10 meters away in their camp spot, the dickheads still won't budge. That is also the other annoying thing. Never sit near a recon when in advanced areas near enemy spawn points. Their very presence gets you killed, and it's usually via a knife in the back. While you are there to help the team by either reviving or dropping ammo, the fuckers are too busy with their eyeball down a scope to be aware of what is going on around them. Too many times I've been lured into a false sense of security by running up to one thinking that if he is there and alive and well, then there is no threat around. Wrong! Loads of times there is an enemy sitting behind a rock no more than 2 feet away that the recon wasn't aware of that comes round and knifes me. They are the only thing in the game that piss me off. Oh, and the mortars too. Those are just ridiculous.

Sniping in rush can be done but it's usually not a good idea, I agree on that.

As for useless in general, someone who can kill a lot of people without dying often is actually extremely useful on a game type that penalizes you everytime you spawn.

Snipers are extremely useful if used correctly.

If used as by the majority, yes, annoying as they only play for themselves - HOWEVER - with the MARV I believe is called (the sniper flying drone) you can spot pretty much the whole map, then a Support player can Mortar the shit of an MCOM area while someone else plants/defends all this while the sniper also provides covering for any disarmament from afar.

Another thing is when they unlock their laser designator it auto designates targets for the rest of the team.

A snipers main job in this game in my eyes is to provide spotting in a variety of methods, each class is useful, just depends on the player controlling that nclass really.

More than that, it depends on the rest of the team. I've yet to get a kill assist from the SOFLAM, largely because most people playing BF these days are mouth breadbox waterbrains who use AT weaponry to kill people instead of you know, kill tanks. The COD generation at it's finest. Should get the MAV tonight or tomorrow, but I can't see that being any better.

Yes, but sadly most people picking recon aren't doing it with all those points in mind. They are doing it purely for selfish reasons thinking "oh, I'm going to be a sniper because it'll be super cool and my score will look dead brilliant." There is no such thing as proper sniping in this game. Like you say, a recon's job is to spot, move, shoot someone trying to cap an objective, spot some more, shoot a medic or RPG'rs taking out your armour, and rinse and repeat. They rarely do this. The eejits have yet to cop on that there is a glint on the scope now that gives them away. They die and go back to the same spot over and over, and that drains tickets.

Another thing that pisses me off at times is that you're in a 64 player server, the majority of your side are recons, and you are being dominated. It's not hard to tell why as the enemy tanks and choppers are having carte blanch, literally not a single person firing a RPG into a tank or a stinger at a chopper. I often have to switch to the engi class to do the job myself. It was like that a lot of times on BC2 also.

Just had a cracking round however, ran out of ammo so was basically using a pistol for the rest of the round as the dickhead who was meant to be giving his team ammo packs, was just running and gunning and ignoring the 'request ammo' signals.

Prick.

How many tagged targets have you killed there, sport? Because if you're not doing it chances are none of the rest of your team are, so you'd actually have no ideas if snipers are or aren't playing it that way you want them to.

I generally play hardcore, so that's hard to tell. And I can tell who the lemons are that are playing recon just for the kills. Like I said, playing rush when an m-com is armed and the recons don't budge when they are 10 feet away is a dead give away. 5 recons per team and I wouldn't have a problem with the class. When the majority picks the class and the team is getting battered, then that is another dead give away. Why not pick a more useful class and balance the team out if you're getting hammered?

The main problem with this game is the people who play it.

The game requires teamwork. Something which isnt really required in CoD. So you just get all these kind of players just running around trying to get kills which makes it unbalanced.

9/10 games you join are completely one sided. One team just pisses all over the other in both rounds and its not challenging at all when that happens.

Gonna trade this in for Skyrim next week I think!

Ok, I only play the Xbox sparingly these days and have never played any of the Battlefield series.  I know I don't play it enough to be any good but I gave up COD a few years ago because all it appeared to be was people running around, looking after themselves, and there being no tactics or strategy at all.

Am I right in saying the Battlefield series of games requires more teamwork and thought process than COD?

i've played about 3 mins of the recon class and that's only because i ran out of ammo and grabbed the nearest kit, it's a wanker class ;D

as for the COD tards who complain about it, they all just want to run around quick scoping people for one shot COD style deaths

Yeah, you are. Or should be, at least. As has been mentioned if you're playing it with friends, or strike lucky and stumble upon a batch of decent randomers, it's a very tactical shooter. That said, I happen to think the same with COD, as I only play S&D or Headquarters with friends really.

The entire game is teamwork based. Your tanks can't operate properly without engineers fixing them or taking out other tanks. Good medics will put the squad first and use their gun less in order to revive people. Support drops ammo for snipers and engies firing rockets. If you get an entire team playing their class well as opposed to a side just going out for kills and getting a lot of them, then the other side playing as a proper team will win no matter how poor their kills are.

LOLOLOLOLOL at this unbridled shookbitchery. If YOU want to run and gun, YOU go play COD, the game that defined the genre. Battlefield was never about running around with a UMP like a headless chicken killing someone/dying/killing someone/dying. It's a tactical game with a more realistic flavour that made the sniper/recon class a valuable part of the team. People like you, COD muppets that mistakenly bought Bad Company because it got good reviews. And then when you got on it and got picked off from 500m by a guy you couldn't see, you bitched and moaned and because DICE got caught up in a cripplefight with Activision, they sold out the guys that built the franchise. So now sniping offers no tactical advantage to the game beyond pinging things mopes like you are too busy running around in circles jumping up and down and shooting each other in the thigh to do anything with.

The idea that "bushwookies" were the only thing stopping the run and gunners from completing their expertly devised tactical assault on an enemy position is false. You're either mad that you got sniped a lot in previous Battlefields (and if you had played any previously I'd be surprised) or you're mad that your 12:12 scores in the game were embarrassing compared to most sniper scores of 14:2.
??? Did you read what I typed? I loved the bad company games, and I was an excellent sniper on them. I think this is a bad game on console, the Xbox's limited 24 player matches mean that on the large maps it is a very dull game because it is designed for 64 players on pc. Regardless the bad company games, despite having the same limited amount of players on console, are much more enjoyable because the maps feel more compatible with consoles. Battlefield 3 feels like a lazy pc port.

No it doesn't, its just a multiplatform game that isnt gimped for pc's.
Just stick BF3 out for a bit longer, all the COD players will fuck off when MW3 drops and the more experienced ones will remain, people like me will remain too, new but really getting into it, playing as a team, and wanting to improve.

Your always gonna have issues with players running and gunning but the longer BF3 is out the less that will become because it just doesnt work, so you either adapt or you play modern warfare.

Same. Its the only game type (at least in cod4) that required teamwork, more so just because you dont respawn. But you still got alot of dicks playing like its tdm.

I don't understand the "bushwookies" reference anyway. Up until this game you couldn't go prone and you can't see anything in a bush anyway, and they've taken away the ghillie suit as well so it's pretty easy to see snipers.

Some will learn and the rest will piss off back to COD.

Have some of you fuckers not realised you can spawn in various places or even on other players or is it that you're just pissed off that when you spawn at the base and someone has nicked the last tank YOU wanted and then have to run 5 miles to join the action.
I'd sometimes spawn at the base on the small maps. But yeah on the big maps, id spawn on someones position

Seems as you appreciate what type of game this is I'd not trade it in and wait for it to settle down.

Some will learn and the rest will piss off back to COD.

Hmmm this is true..

But Skyrim is so temptings  :(

Keep battlefield and stick Skyrim on your Xmas pressie list.

What's a Skyrim any how? Sounds like something you'd get up to in an aeroplane bog at 12000 feet.
Google messi topless on holiday. Now look at david silva, villa, iniesta, xavi, they have the upper bodies of little boys.
