Question about names/numbers on shirts
« on: February 4, 2011, 12:21:54 pm »
Is it possible to get them removed?

I've got numerous Torres shirts and want to wear them for footy, but obviously don't want that c*nt on the back.

Cheers.  :wave

I don't think so. I think even if you get the letters removed, you'll still have the glue outline on the shirt.

Not sure what lettering you have on your shirt, but I believe the plastic lettering is a lot more difficult to remove than the felt lettering they used to use.

Just keep washing it in the machine and they all come off at some point

use the money wisely, and you'll have a Suarez shirt just like that!

50 SILVER LINING TO TRANSFER HEARTACHE

Paddy Power are riding to the rescue of any Liverpool fans left holding one of the famous red jersey’s with the name ‘Torres’ on the back – by offering a £50 free bet to anyone who sends in their unwanted shirts.

The former Kop hero’s £50 million departure to Chelsea this week has left thousands of Liverpool fans with a shirt that, in the words of Lord Sugar, they wouldn’t even clean their car with now that it bares the name of their fallen idol. But what to do with it?

Paddy Power’s offer will not only line your pocket but also see the shirt donated to Oxfam who will send the shirts to Africa, which may even help grow the club’s fan base across the continent.

Available for all official Liverpool shirts with the name Torres printed on them, Paddy Power hopes the gesture will go some way to ease the pain of the striker’s departure as well as the cost of having to but a new Liverpool jersey.

Liverpool Legend John Aldridge said: “Torres’ departure will have upset many fans but for those who shelled out for a Liverpool shirt with Torres’ name on it will now also be feeling a little poorer too. So it is great news Paddy Power has a silver lining to the Torres transfer heartache and offered anyone with a shirt a £50 free bet.”

Paddy Power said: “We know the pain fans will have been through after their favourite players have left the club, so we wanted to give them something back. Whilst it can’t turn back the clock it can at least ease the wallet.”

All you have to do is:
1.   Send your shirt to Paddy Power Silver Lining, Unit 4, Capel Close, Fairwood Industrial Park, Leacon Road, Ashford, Kent, TN23 4GY
2.   Include a short note with your NAME, PHONE NUMBER, email address (if you have one) and PADDY POWER USERNAME. (If you don’t have a Paddy Power account – open one at www.paddypower.com!)

We’ll do the rest, and let you know when your free bet has been credited to your account! All the shirts collected will be distributed to those who need them around the world.

Full details are on our site at www.paddypower.com/silverlining

Over 18s only! One official replica adult shirt, including name and squad number, per household will be accepted. Free bet for paddypower.com, Free bet stake is not returned in winnings.

He's a head worker, that Paddy fella.

Here, open an account, and we'll give you £50 of free bets.

Don't most online bookies already give you something similar?

Trying to make it look like he's doing us a favour. ::)

As for the op.

Yes, you can get them off, but it will leave the glue imprint on the shirt, and will still maybe ruin the shirt.  You'd just be better giving it away.

For those wantint to 'TRY' and remove the letters, here's a post (below) about heat transfere patches, that I posted a few months ago.

You would just have to do it in reverse.

Heat up the letters, and remove them when hot.

***WARNING***   I've done something similar with other shirts to varying degrees of success.

Depending on the material of the shirt, it sometimes works(but will often leave the letter imprint on the shirt), but it also sometimes ruins the shirt completely.

It's all dependant on the material of the shirt...................................... don't say you weren't warned !   !   !

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Get yourself two plain white cotton handkerchiefs (coloured will do, as long as they have been well washed or used before).
Alternatively, cotton pillow cases.

Put your iron on it's hottest setting(cotton) -  ( no steam ).

Spread out the shirt to reveal the area for the patch to be affixed, usually the sleeve. And get the area as flat as possible. Place one of the folded hankie/pillowcases inside the sleeve and flatten. Use the other handkerchief/pillow case on top and iron the sleeve flat.

Carefully place the patch in possition( carefully !  There's no second chance once heat is applied).

Place the hankie/pillow case over the patch and iron for about ten seconds whilst applying some downdard pressure onto the iron/shirt.

Remove the top hankie, and let cool for about ten-fifteen seconds( blow or use a fan).

Carefully use your fingernail along the edge to see if the patch has fully adhered.  If it hasn't, then repeat process.

Once it's fully stuck lift sleeve away from lower hankie/pillow case to make sure none of the adhesive has travelled through (very unlikely with propper lextra patches etc).

Then cool off the shirt by wafting it around for a minute or two. There you go!

NOTE: With these types of patches, you should not wash the shirt for 24-48 hours after applying the patch, in order that the adhesive fully cures.

If the patch has a protective film on it, just use it with the film intact as that is how it's supposed to be used. After applying the patch, peel the film off carefully as the patch is cooling down(still warm to hot), but not too cool or cold, as they tend to stick.
