What has anyone seen in the past two seasons that suggests that Torres would "be worth the gamble" at £20, let alone £20million?
His form on the whole has been dire, as has his body language. Where once you saw hunger, desire and enthusiasm, now you see a shrug of the shoulders. Maybe it's just me, but watching him over the majority of this period he almost resembles a player winding down his career. At twenty-seven. For whatever reason, he's not the player that graced Anfield for two glorious seasons. Maybe he'll regain that, but at the moment I wouldn't bet on it and certainly not to the tune of £20m. We need to move forward, not backwards.
And that's without mentioning the distinct lack of grace on his part following his departure.
