Hopefully we're all hard and gnarly enough to rekkanize this for what it is. It's nice to see them do it, cos it's cute. But at the end of the day, it's PR.

I find myself liking Larry Lucchino though. Not sure why. I'd like to understand what he brings to the Liverpudlian party.
Of course, but I do like the way they do PR. Better than, lets say, a staged "look at me at my home with my huge Liverpool scarf supporting the club againts Everton with tv cameras all around". For example.

More "I serve you" than "Look at ME".

Really?  Mixed feelings personally.  As President/CEO of the Baltimore Orioles, he did get the state of Maryland to pay for an absolutely gorgeous stadium, Oriole Park at Camden Yards.  But the ownership group he was part of also bankrupted the team, leading to ownership by the universally hated Peter Angelos.  And if I recall correctly, San Diego Padres fans don't have much good to say, either.

Yeah that's what I mean. We can dismiss everything as PR, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's not a good gesture too.

Whatever it is, I like their conduct and am pleased they are our owners.

The reason they were down there serving coffee and hot chocolate was because it was a rain delayed game that went deep into Extra Innings. The game was going well but then it started raining, and it was an extremely long delay.

Sure, in part it is about PR, but it is not like it was something they scheduled and decided to do a while ago. They served free coffee and hot chocolate to the most loyal fans, who sat through a 2 hour rain delay, and then deep into the extra innings. We have classy owners. Let's not tear that down.

I was reading the thread thinking, 'they forgot our Andy!'

They are good at the PR, aren't they? Which is another way of saying, they keep an eye on what the paying customers think. No bad thing. I suspect there is a heart at the centre of it which we could relate to. Unlike Hicks - who was just a bag of adipose tissue.
Liverpool is a special place because they make their own players into gods extraordinarily, recklessly quickly.

Exactly, no need to look for the negatives in it at all. Very nice gesture from them, shows appreciation and what we've all thought, that these owners are different from the previous, and their track record thus far proves it.

PR or not, I know plenty of people who have had random interactions with Henry over the years when the cameras aren't in sight and he's a genuinely nice and friendly guy. He also treats service industry people and employees very well which I think is often a good measure of character.

Yeah, and that's great. Andy wrote about the meeting - we all felt encouraged and hopeful.

But we should never forget the collective strength we gained, and we should never give unqualified support to our owners again. Respect and even admiration, yes. Affection? Maybe. But never 100% unqualified support.

Second coming of Jesus you say? Meh.

Oh very good company. These do seem different, partly because Kenny seems to like them. Rafa hated G&H fairly quickly (his presser after the CL final was the first hint of trouble). We'll see how things pan out, this summer might prove a thing or two.

athens was the start of it looking back

alarm bells went off with me when hicks told rafa to concentrate on coaching. up to then i was happy with the outlay on the likes of torres and babel plus the new stadium plans. was all downhill from then on.

im happy with nesv so far. this summer it will be nice to hopefully spend money for once

haven't we all learned that from G&H. If there is any good that came from G&H it is that we will NEVER EVER let our guard down again.

Had it have gone far enough we could have lost our club.

These owners will never receive our unconditional support. It will always be conditional because we know now that it has to be. Every decision will be questioned from here on out and if they perform their roles like they have in the past then we will be very supportive and appreciative.

I trust them at this point in time because they have made several good decisions: appointing Kenny, signing Suarez, signing carroll, selling torres, shirt deal.

However, this summer is absolutely huge in the future of this club and one they have to get right. They have said there will be investment and we all really want to believe them but I suspect every one will continue to wait with baited breath for July 1st.

If they perform then they will be lauded and praised, deservedly, but that will only be temporary and rightly so.

They carry themselves better than H+G, certainly they have been clever in using the Liverpool Way to conduct their business privately.
This has pros and cons to be honest, if there are any red flags will we see them in time to react?

The SOS proposal for a fan share being ignored while LeBron James got a share is a question mark.
But we shall wait and see, GG also had a great record in Montreal before he infected us.

it is good point but then we have to hope we have a manager like Rafa who won't let shit slide down hill before the fans know. Kenny is definitely a man who will look after us so at least we have a red on the inside.

It wasn't an SOS proposal as far as I am aware, those linked to SOS have denied it, though fan ownership is their ultimate goal.

Anyway, the proposal (circa £30mil for 10%, no profit for FSG) was never, ever going to be taken seriously.
Why do people quote other people for the sigs?  What' the point?

To me, this is actually a positive. It shows that they are there to make business decisions, not cave to fan pressure.  But as this post has pointed out, the details are very fuzzy.

On the whole, I trust the new owners. So far they have made excellent business decisions, they have been slow and deliberate over every major decision. They have almost perfect rhetoric for the clubs direction, and the choices they've made seem to echo that. It's something I say a lot, but I feel the new owners are looking to imitate barcalona. A single philosophy of football that unites the club at every level. A heavy reliance on youth players. I believe the appointment of Comolli and the creation of his role were excellent choices: a director of football can ensure that the players brought in still suit the club's philosophy.
