They must be devastated right now. And theirs is even worse, as they have lost someone and probably will not get a replacement. Sort of end of the food chain thing.

sincerely wish them to discover a gem that noone else knows about to pay for this.

They'll end up with Crouch.

Lighten up?

24 hours ago I was just coming to terms with the fact we were going to sell Torres for 50m.  Andy Caroll for 35m is meant to be the sweetner?  Meaning we've barely got enough change to sign Charlie fcking Adam?  This is like some sort of sick joke.

Have people lost their minds?  do you honestly think Andy Carroll is worth 35 m - 35 fcking million?  Or to put it another way 70% of Nando?

Anelka is a direct replacement for Torres, rated at 8m - even Sturridge is a more like for like replacement rated probably around the same.  We should have played hardball and demanded 45m for Torres + Anelka.  Instead we've actually getting 15m for Torres plus Andy Carroll.  Whatever way you want to look at it, it is absolutely atrocious business, amongst the worst I can remember in our history.

I can see where you're coming from but let's not forget the fucking ladyboy WANTED to go, let's not lament him going - he's a c*nt who stitched us up big time. I'll never fucking forgive him.

We're actually one of these teams spending this amount of money. Rather than looking on saying "Wish we could do that"

Exactly, that is why I have no issues with how much it is, I just like the fact that it is going towards players and not towards debt. We are on our way back. Really looking forward to seeing Carroll, always liked him as a player, and it certainly softens the blow of losing Torres.

Even Rio Ferdinand has tweeted that this guy is going to be some player. We now have Suarez + Carroll up front with Adam feeding them from all angles (as long as any deals dont break down), from midfield, corners, set pieces. With the youngsters like Pacheco, Suso, Shelvey, etc coming through then the future is looking brighter.

Looks like they're going on for Carlton Cole, be about £25million I reckon.

Weren't we all 24 hours ago resigning to the fact that we were going to lose the worlds best striker? Yes. Butwe dont fucking dwell on it. No Andy Carroll isnt worth 35 million, but i dont give a fuck. If the owners are willing to pay that then good on them. He is Englands most up and coming striker. He is 22. He has already shown that he can play at this level of football. He is a very very good footballer. And like i said, we still have 15 million left over from the torres transfer if the judas goes. Now go and get young/adam, that is what i say. Fuck torres the merceneray c*nt.

Yep, and that is why we have had to pay 35 million for Carroll because newcastle know we need another striker.

I don't disagree.

I presume it's unprecedented for one of our players to leave to further his career at another English club?  I can't think of anyone.  the likes of Macca, Owen, Masch, Alonso - all went abroad.

sorry to quote you, however you are a representative of the many negative posts on this.

What people are failing to realise more than anything else is that although we have paid £35m for AC FT has still not left. So we have not waisted any of FT's transfer fee. Moreover this is not the G+H reign, we do not need to sell to buy, it looks more like we buy who and what we think is necessary in order to improve and better ourselves. As KK said it is not a matter of one in one out.

Money is there regardless, does not matter if FT leaves or stays, money is available, and players are bought not as replacements, but rather as additions to what we already have. This is the most refreshing thing that has happened to our club since the 07 CL final and people are questioning how much we payed ? WTF? Are you people really Liverpool supporters coming on a LFC forum? Or are you just sad miserable gits , who need to moan about everything in your life, and share it with as many people as you can ?

The club did not have to dimes to rub together 6 months ago, now we buy are buying players, NOT AS REPLACEMENTS (FT has not gone anywhere yet) but as additions, as all great clubs do, buy to add to what they have already. How it should have been for RB, Rafa should not have had to look to sell Alonso to buy Barry, as a progressive club with option, we should have had both of them. Money should have been available to him to buy Barry, not as the expence of, but as an addition to.

Before my time mate, but wasn't part of the thing that made Kenny go for Aldo his ability to hold the ball, turn it around a corner and then burst into the box? You don't think he's looking at Carroll and thinking "If I can get someone who can deliver from wide, he can do that all day"?

Aldridge was a battler, but certainly not a target man. Very different sort of player. What I will say though, is that if I was offered Suarez and Carroll or Fernando Torres on his own at the beginning of the transfer window, I'd have taken the former. The money we've spent on both will be irrelevant if they do the business.

Absoloutley devistated in football terms. Can't help but take it personally really, he was the first person since Shearer we had to cling on too and call our own, and as recently as november in an interview on sky before the chelsea game, he promised to stay and try and get as close to Shearer's record goals as possible. Now he's gone for money that will be wasted on an older striker and three mediocore midfielders. Extremley disheartening.

Feel for the geordies in this. Doesn't feel good to lose one of your favourite players.

Not particularly bothered that Andy is leaving for silly money, I am more bothered about the fact that the FCB will not re-invest it in the team. It will be his fookin casino money except for the 3 million quid he will spend on a League One no mark to replace AC.

At least your club are showing intent again .

I think in a sense that the fee is also about showing Liverpool FC as the big club it is, regardless of the money, the club can still tempt great players out there. 2 of these 3 players all submitted transfer requests to join us, and Suarez begged Ajax to let him come here.

Basically, the statement of intent is... 'we will get our man, regardless of cost, we are on our way back!'.

At least, thats what I am telling myself :D

The only problem I see now, we are weak at left back, does Konchesky going mean that GJ will be playing more at LB or can we drag Insua back from Galatasaray?

All I know is that Rafael Benitez must be crying into his brew as he is watching this unfold. He must be going fucking ape shit. The guy “wheeled & dealed” more the Arry’ in the last 5 years and had about two shillings to spend on world class stars like Andy.

Let’s have it right; RB was no Mark Rich in the transfer market but he never had the luxury of this type of spending. Come to think of it Fergie never done a mad one like this in a January transfer window at such short notice.

Is the team better with Caroll+Suarez than with Torres ?
I hope yes.

But I'm really disppointed with his transfer ...

Well we spent £25 on Suarez as well, and by all accounts are chasing other players too. KK said he does not want FT to leave, and he also said no players are bought as replacements for players leaving. Think people need to realise we are not living in the G+H era anymore, these people are stumping up the cash for the players they see fit to wear the red shirt, regardless of the cost.

So what is your logic?

I'm hearing you, the two players I considered the most loyal have both turned their backs on the clubs and fans. It is a disgrace the power players have and the money involved.  Keep your head up mate, what goes around comes around. Good luck for the rest of the season.

The future is bright, the future is NESV

I've got faith in the owners too and I actually agree with the last line of your post.  But I'm allowed to have an opinion on transfers in and transfers out and I'm sorry but you're being naive if you believe Kenny when he says it's not one in and one out.  Torres is going, Carroll arriving is confirmation of that.

My opinion as previously stated is this is a terrible bit of business.  We're not even getting a direct replacement of Torres, I think Carroll will encourage a worse brand of football not better and I think the player in question is, almost astonishingly, over-priced.

Like I said earlier, if Torres had announced he wanted to stay last week and Chelsea had bought Andy Carroll for 35m instead - what would your reaction have been?

I dont' really know Caroll ( just saw him on french TV highlights about Newcastle).

Is the team better with Caroll+Suarez than with Torres ?
I hope yes.

But I'm really disppointed with his transfer ...
I would hope so, more balance any way. We still need 3-4 new players to compete at the top again though.

Can anyone tell me how long it will take for him to recover from the injury?
What is the United line-up?
Webb, Riley, Wiley, Clattenburg, Dean, Dowd, Atkinson, Friend, Mason, Halsey and Probert

Djimi Traore has won more European Cups than London :)

Same mate. Feel like saying ta'ra to football all together. I'm not stupid, I know the club and the game are bigger than one player, but as I said, as a Geordie myself and someone who is only two years Carroll's junior, I can't help but felt let down by him. He was supposed to represent the club and the city, he's failed both. Modern football is terrible.

Ha, now you know how us older ones felt when Gazza, Beardo and Waddler were sold.
Newcastle will never change. Seen it all before,
Tiote and Enrique will be next out of the door in the summer for big money so brace yourself for it..

Supposedly fit for the Chelsea game.

If we get Adam today as well than we just need to buy some wingers, a left back and more up and coming talent in the summer.

3-4 players more is right.

Tell me.  If and it's a big if I admit - Torres is worth 50m which I think is consistent with Suarez being worth 25 and Robinho, for example, being worth 32.  How much do you think Andy Carroll is worth?

It doesn't matter about money anymore, the H&G regime really has us all paranoid about going into debt once again. Before the FFP rules come into play then I imagine this will be a one-off splurge to show other young players that something here is being built, that LFC is on its way back.

I trust Kenny, he knows his football, and he sees potential in players, hence him doing some scouting for us for 2 years. He seen the potential in Shearer, maybe he sees it in Carroll too?

Just relax, this may turn out in our favour, Torres may flop at Chelsea, Chelsea fans seem to think that they will be reverting to 4-4-2, and Torres doesn't play his best football when paired with another striker.

Sad thing is we'd of sold Shearer if he was in our youth system!
