My gut tells me its a coup by the bookies.

A while back when Owen signed for Utd, the bookies lost a lot of money. They responded with the whole Ribery to Liverpool transfer story. A lot of people fell for that crap. Now I fear the same is happening here.

If you look on the Skysports Transfer Centre thing on their website, you can see a lot of posts involving Torres also mention his odds of moving. The odds have shifted through out the day in a pretty classic style to draw people in. "Look guys the odds are dropping so quickly, I better bet now while the odds are still decent..."

Skysports news is tied in with Skybet, its all the same thing. If skybet can make money by using skysports news as a resource then they will definitely do it. As for the paper articles, someone tell me where they got their source from that said Torres wants to leave. If you come up with Skysports as the source its the nail in the coffin for me.

I could be wrong, but when the media start mentioning betting odds its a red flag.

oh for fucks sake...

maybe I'm trying to see the situation from a different angle, instead of abusing Ballague and Chelsea for wanting Torres.

Maybe Torres is fed up with waiting for people to put their money where their mouth is.

You must be in a permanantly depressed state with regard to LFC

I bet when we won the European Cup in Istanbul you complained that it was only won on penalties and that we conceeded three in one half didnt you?

You've got to remember what the owners said though. They have said on a number of occasions that they might not be able to get the player that they want for the right price in january and that we may not sign anyone till the summer.

Now I agree the squad needs strengthening, but it has to be with the right quality players. We can no longer afford to panick buy like we have done in the past. So if those players aren't available in january the current player and fans alike are just goin to have to sit back and be patient.

Who says we'll get the right price in the Summer?

Journo on 5live just commented that teams and strategies are built around players of Torres' calibre therefore a January move could be counter productive in disrupting the season's preparation up to now. He reckons that Chelsea are just testing the water for a Summer move. Sounds feasible to me. Hopefully by then we are in a much stronger position to persuade Nando to stick with us and the owners to stand firm in not selling him.

There is a problem with torres though.

In the summer he only has 2 years on his contract.

After that point his value will start to decrease a lot.

If he doesn't sign a new contract in the summer, economically we may have to sell even if it makes no footballing sense and we dont need the money.

My feeling is that they are softening us up for the summer.

You mean you think our new owners would be gaging the level of panic/frustration/apathy/anger from the LFC supporters regarding Torres sale ....Diabolical that !  :butt

I refuse to believe Torres would make a fuss about this now. He seems like a clever lad, and im sure the club has told him no chance, and he'll need to wait until the summer to make his mind up about his future. The timing is so terribly wrong now.

It is worrying when things like this happen all of a sudden.Hopefully Torres wants to stay, but we cant be surprised if his head has been turned. The only way we can put an end to this is by signing a couple of players, and showing our intent.Fernando has been very patient. And I hope it stays that way.

I'd of taken administration over this non-spending by the owners. I mean, it's their first transfer window, it's January, and they haven't spent £60m already. They are useless.

What empty words

They are doing the job as quietly as they can. Positivity was getting rid of Hodgson, removing the debt and looking to the future.

What gets me these days, and it aint just you, nor is it just in football, but nobody gives things time to happen. If it didnt happen yesterday its time to kick off.

I said weeks ago that the Suarez deal would go down to the wire. Not because im some ITK, but because you have a club with money and a club without, the club without wants the best deal and is willing to play hardball and the club with is not wanting to get ripped off and is playing hardball.

Also, I would rather the new owners walk away from a bid rather than pay over the odds and threaten our long term stability.
