i've seen that tweet and that tweet is the only wildfire i've seen spreading

Have heard no rumours and can't see it happening at all. He also doesn't really fit with the NESV profile given that he's 29, would be on even bigger wages and he'd hardly cost us a pittance. Not gonna happen.

That's nonsense. It has been explained many many times. The FSG method applies for general cases, that's how they build a team for the future. But they have never been hesitant to splash the cash on a person who is the missing piece of the puzzle. Check their track record and the NESV/FSG discussions threads.

with the brand of football we are playing now with King kenny and xabi's vision and passing ability as well as defensive quality's he would have been better than ever for us. but he's 29 and not the quickest of lads, so im very doubtful if that is even possible for Comolli to consider with the FSG policy

the only way i can see it is if xabi is sold for a lesser price something real do (snijder, van der vart etc) and he wants to come back. they bought sahin from dortmund and i think that's how that "rumor" started

It's not about not splashing the cash though, it's about splashing a huge amount of cash on a guy that's 29 and already on massive wages. Plus NESV have a period of grace here were they don't actually need to find the missing piece just yet, better to spend that money on a Javi Martinez or someone rather than a Xabi Alonso.

There will be a placed for Xabi at Liverpool as long as the guy can run. Don't forget that Jan Molby (not the most mobile) had a very important place in Kenny's teams.

Alonso is exactly the kind of midfielder we need and we know he would be brilliant for a few years. Players in his position and having his style can play till their mid-30s (Scholes?). Having said that, I would not want us to pay more than a third of what we got for him and that's not going to happen. Sahin has been bought to play with Alonso rather than instead of him.

If Madrid get rid, it will be because he is past his prime. I might consider taking him at the right price but lets fact it - it's probably not happening. He'll be welcome back as an ex-player though. It's a pity as it would have been great to see him finish his career here.
