don't know why everybody is dreaming about some signings that are supposed to be coming for the next 3 games,I doubt there will be any at all,let alone 3-4.

I cant imagine this thread if we lost, another dissapointing result. The next 2 games are enormous, they define whether we are in a relegation battle or if we can forget about that shit and push for the european spots.

We are playing much better.  I think Everton may have had all the damn possession in the second half from all their time wasting.  They put Stoke to shame with some of that.  I wish it could have been a win, but I am actually starting to enjoy our play a bit more.  Our defense needs some work though...in possession, we are much better.

I see RAWK has found it's new scapegoat then,Spearing.Lad had a good game and still the "whoppers" have a go at him.The only one to blame today is Skrtel.Oh yea and the officials seem to have an agenda against us at the moment

So only whoppers thought that Spearing didnt have a good game? hahaha

Jesus Pheeny, if thats your definition of a good game, I bet you're stuck for superlatives to describe how Lucas played.

Just for the record: Refs are not bent against us.

Aligning yourself with the idea that refs have cost us in games is delusional and allows us all to qualify another disappointing result by simply blaming the ref. Hope Kenny doesn’t do likewise because he has a team to sort out.

In short: Our defence cost us today.

Well said.  The defence and confidence cost us.  If the boot had been on the other foot we wouldn't have expected Everton to be given a free kick for the challenge.

We need a CB and LB fast...

However, lets not get negative here peeps.  It was an amazing first half performance and aside from 20 mins in the second half it was a good day.  We should have won but at least we didn't lose.

The key positives:

- Nando looked like his old self
- Kelly remains amazing
- Kuyt was more hussle and bussle and in second half had some great touches
- Lucas was everywhere again

It may only be one point but it's a starting point.

Really?

For me:

Good: Lucas, Torres, Kuyt, Kelly, Agger
OK: Meireles, Maxi, Johnson, Spearing, Pepe, Shelvey
Not OK: Soto
Bad: Skrtel

Exact same list I'd have.

We just appeared brittle in the second half which is arguably a consequence of everything that has preceded us this season before today? The defending for the corner was pretty shocking but there needs to be a belief that there is is still 45 minutes to play and we can just regain the lead once again. It's all confidence still, but that first half display surely shows that we are far superior than where our league position shows. Time to maintain some momentum.

Agree except with the Kuyt part.

Dirk was MOM for me. Always made himself available, in the midst of all the best attacking and defensive work.

For Kuyt, I don't know if he was instructed to play like that, but isn't he trying to do way too much? He plays on the right wing, but he runs all the way back to the back pitch line to help out to defend, and he also plays a bit in the middle as well. He isn't the quickest player so the right side is often being neglected IMO.

They were targeting Kelly with high balls, in open play as well as set pieces. Kelly could win some of them, but needed help from Kuyt on the second ball. We could have lost that game if Kuyt hadn't been an auxiliary right back at times.
Today, truth.
Tomorrow, justice for the 96.

We need some luck quicktime because we are struggling all over the place. The wings, central midfield and central defence all seem to be lacking.

We don't seem to be able to threaten teams, cannot control a game well and cannot defend. Not a great mix.

Second half, some of our players just stopped playing. I'm guessing Dirk decided he had to sort it out on his own, and he God-damn nearly did. Would be surprised if Kenny had told him to do that, though - he should really stick higher up the pitch. But, if the players behind you simply aren't winning the ball back, sometimes you have to muck in there yourself..

On a side note, even though we haven't had the results, its fucking great to see the team play at a tempo that my nan couldn't keep up with, as was previous under Roy Hodgson.

The lack of hoofs is also very encouraging to see.

We'll get there.

agree...

superb: Meireles,Maxi,Agger

did ok: Johnson,Kelly

not ok:Spearing,Torres,Kuyt

awful: Skrtel,Lucas,Soto
Can't agree. Meireles wasted possession constantly- ala Blackpool and his delivery from corners are really poor- good on him though for the goal. I'd hate to see him dwindle as he has been one of our good players. Spearing did his job- not great, but certainly good enough for the game.

Lucas did well- kept possession- made some good passes and some good tackles. Max could've done more.

Anyway- overall it was a good game, with lots of positives. Not a win for Kenny, but the next best thing. At this rate, we'll be ready for Chelsea and I have more confidence that we can make 6th.

Just got back from the game and thought that we played well all game.

Was a bit sloppy in possesion and we were rocked when the Blueshite got their second but we dug deep and got the draw which IMO is a fair result for today as both team went at it and it was a very good match.

Agger is a beast of a defender, same with Kelly and hope those two make a really good partnership one day.

Skrtel was good but did have a few lapses in concentration and the less said about Johnson down the left the better. Stick him on the right and he's fine but he's wasted down the left IMO.

Spearing had a class game, closed him man down at every chance, got the important tackles in and worked very well along side Lucas and Meirelles.

Only problem with our midfield today was there were too many sideways passes that just didn't help, on a few occasions, Torres was looking for the ball over the top/through ball, only for Lucas or Meirelles to pass it sideways and then back to one of the defenders. Hopefully we develop that killer pass instinct to get the ball forward a bit more.

One thing though, we definately need a pressence in the air because nearly every ball whipped in today ended up on Fellaini's head.

Mr Glass?

Agger or Aurellio?

We missed both today (even though Agger played the first half and Aurellio was on the bench)

Can't believe some people on here.
We suffered when Agger went off, and let everton back in the game. Should have had a free kick just before their first, no question, but they got the luck with that decision and with the goal. Torres was superb in the first half, and good in the second, Spearing looked a bit rusty but didn't do much more wrong than anyone else. We passed the ball well out of defence, let down by Raul once or twice giving the ball away. Kelly was superb again, really impressed by him this week. It was a positive performance, we kept on going trying to get back to 2-2, and kept going for the win, but I think we should have had it wrapped up at half time with the chances we had.

He won't, the ruling was changed this year. Five bookings before new year results in a suspension, after that I assume it's a suspension at ten.

Yes, I agree with this style in principle. The obvious downside is that the players didn't always pass with great accuracy and we got into a couple of sticky situations. However, I hope it continues.

we need a centerback. Skrtel seems to have lost it, and considering he's struggled for form for most of the past 18 months i'd say it's about time he was moved on. funny thing i noticed was howspearing was hardworking but i can't see him as one for the future; 2 out of 3 successful tackles as our holding midfielder says a bit. though i think more than anything else we looked a more and more tired as the match wore on. quite surprised we didn't see babel come on at any point.

that and i can't freakin wait for stevie to come back.

Is there ONE competent ref in this league? It's a disgrace really , week after week we are done in by the ref , not because of getting outplayed. Fucking long ball merchants and talentless over physical thugs , thats what they are. Talentless team of plodders assisted by disgraceful referring , thats how they got their precious point.

Nah, can't blame the ref today. We were shite second half, end of really.

I thought he gave the ball away quite a bit but my impression was that when this happened he was trying to get the ball forward.

Quite a few times his passes were cut out or intercepted rather than plain wasteful or negligent. My point, I guess, is that he gave it away trying to be progressive. I'd rather that than someone who was too introverted to even try. And the more he tries, the more he'll get the pace of the game, remember under Roy he wasn't exactly given licence to be creative...

Very ecouraging and feel we are on the way back. Game should have been done in the 1st half. Very different feel to the team, and good to see a little grit and determination.

great to see us playing ball again ,we will get there in a few games , some of the players need a bit more conviction in the passing ,a bit lax at times. We need to do a bit of work in training with the high ball to the back post we are getting murdered with it lately.

Meireles' passing might be poorer than Lucas and Spearing but he was playing higher up the pitch where our play would often break down because the pass is harder to make. I do agree though he has been poor of late. Skrtel has been off all season. That 2nd half roasting he received at Newcastle sums up his season, hapless. Even though Lucas considers himself a holding midfield player I think he needs a defensive chaperone alongside him. He also needs to be given a rest.

There were quite a few positives today again, some good quick pass and move forward play in the 1st half. I would agree about Kenny's substitutions, surely Babel should have come on either for Maxi and Raul. Torres looks much happier despite the results under Kenny. Just need to sure up that defence and soft midfield centre.

Oh grow up.

I bet Everton fans are saying exactly the same as you.

Fact is, we cant defend, our midfield showed no craft or imagination today, our attacking play was poor and it was a fair result imo.People are still living in this Dalglish dream world where they think just cos he's back, we're light years better already. We're not.If Roy was the manager today, it'd have been his fault and we would have been 'shit'.

Their first goal game from a non existent corner. Their second came from a piece of play where Kelly was taken out with an arm and fell on his fuking head , a foul in any league in any type of football.  The referee allowed them with their overphsyical stuff to compensate for their lack of talent. They would not won that game with a decent referee.
