The more I think about it the more I think it is right that Kenny does the job for about 3 years.

It's not sentimental (although I adore the man) it's just the way he carries himself. The way he speaks about our players and the way he stands up to the media for our club, the way he slammed Webb for the 'joke' penalty and the way he defended Steven for the daft tackle. The fact that he is Kenny Dalglish means that Keys/Gray/Tyler won't try and make him look stupid or denegrate him.

On top of that, the way he has spoken in one interview about Fernando tells me they are on the same page, that Fernando will want to please him and respond.

One more thing, the future of this club is massively entwined to this fantastic crop of kids we have coming through. We have a team full - almost literally, and Kenny has shown today no hesitation in playing Kelly when he could have fudged it with Soto in and Skrtel to right back and bringing on Shelvey and Ngog for senior players with time to go.

Kenny knows the lads in the 18's yesterday and how good Suso is, how good Flanagan/Robinson/Wisdom are etc etc.

He also has the unconditional support of the crowd. He is the right man, even if it has come by default we should cherish our luck now and keep him at least until this flow of kids have come through.

I love football again and have got my club and my king back.

I'm personally amazed at how great I feel. I've been resistant to having Kenny back for all the reasons we've bandied about for the past however many months, but I've worried in particular about his legacy and what failure would mean for him.

But...

Fuck me, how good did it feel seeing him at the helm?! I mean I'm not imagining it right? There were players IN position, and looking for the most part like they gave a shit. The performance was a step up from what we've seen, AND Kenny's just the fucking dogs bollocks. I love the way he handles himself, I love the way he handles the media, and I loved the way I felt watching football today.

Too bad Howard Webb has made too many howlers now for me to rate him.

"What if he fails?" I was asked this morning by my girlfriend. My reply was simply "He can't fail."

This wasn't the result of some delusional belief in his abilities, as even the most blinkered fan has to accept that after H&G our squad has been left depleted and in need of investment. We will suffer defeats under him, and unless he is given time and money we can't expect miracles.

But, whatever happens now on the pitch, we know it will happen with pride and passion. Things will be done the right way, the Liverpool way. He knows us, he understands us, he is one of us. In short, not only do we now have a leader worthy of the title "Liverpool Manager", we have one who helped define what being Liverpool Manager is all about.

This is my club, and always will be but recently I've felt estranged from it. Not anymore... our time to celebrate triumphs and trophies together will no doubt come in the future, though we will have to wait a while yet. But, today I felt like LFC is finally back - long live the king!

I like it. But this sort of reaction would have been exactly what NESV would be afraid of when appointing the King. I think we should see where we are at the end of the season, who is available etc. and make a considered decision over the summer. For now - I'm just enjoying the good old days again and worrying about when the next game is and how am I gonna watch it.....

You are right, however, I actually think it's the best thing for their investment.

Crowds will be up, supporters will be happier under Kenny than anybody else so unless they are planning on spending a bundle Kenny may be the sharp move anyway. Of course they are interested long term but then again his ability and knowledge to integrate the academy kids gives them the youth through-put that they want and the club needs.

My concern about the long term role is whether Kenny really wants that much aggro at this stage in his life when it is nice and cushy and he can play his golf as he pleases. I have no concern that he is not equipped to do a top job.

It's incredible what he's done in less than a day. Just by being there, by saying the right things to the press, by getting the players to play in their right position and making bold, but sensible substitutions. There's still a lot of work to be done, but it feels like the winter is over, there's a fresh warm breeze of springtime and the birds are singing. There might even be a lark.

A huge weight lifted, it's wonderful.

I can only echo all the thoughts here. To have Kenny back, the way he talks about the club, the fans, his players... he is Liverpool. I wouldn't object to him being given a long term contract today either to be honest. Whatever NESV decide though either way I'll accept. They're certainly earning our trust.

Great post, but I think now is the time to rebuild the squad and indeed the club. You talk about the youngsters coming through, but Kelly, Ngog, Pacheco and Shelvey (spelling?) aside we will be waiting a good 3-4 years until they will become starting players. The club is in need of a revamp and I believe someone like Jurgen Klopp would be a better candidate than Kenny. As much as I love Kenny i'm not sure he's the man to revamp our team. Any players coming in would know Kenny would only be around permanently for a couple of years and this could have an adverse effect on our ability to attract the calibre of players we need.

I think this is a time NESV really need to be forward thinking and decisive. They have clearly made the right choice in bringing Kenny back. However, for the good of our future I think we need to resist the massive urge to plead for the King to come back permanently. We have finally had the taste of being completely free of everything weighing this club down, Kenny being the man to bring this feeling multiplies it tenfold, but this is no time for romanticism. As much as we would all love to see Kenny be successful here I don't think it's the right thing for the long term future of the club.

I think there are lads in the reserves now who are good enough to be the back up players in the first team squad next season, that allows us to clear out a lot of the higher earning squad average squad players and focus on quality not quantity with the money we've got to spend.

On top of the lads you mention who are on the edge or already playing, there is Danny Wilson who is already ready to play and probably Ayala. Suso will be ready to play a part before the end of next season as will Flanagan/Robinson even if it is just as part of the squad. These boys are excellent and at 19 will be ready.

It's crucial that they are given the space in the squad to do that and Kenny will do it.

It was boss wasnt it?! All through the game we were louder than them! All they could come up with was a couple 'utd,utd,utd' chants every 20 mins or so. In the second half there was a 10-15 min period where we were putting pressure on them and we were booing them and singing non-stop. It was absolutely electric. 9000 of us making 65000 daytrippers look fuckin shite! Was very proud to be a liverpool fan today.

I hurt when we conceded the penalty, conceded the goal, and got Stevie sent off, whereas the last 4 months I've just been looking on, numb, resigned to it, win or lose. That was the worst thing with Roy. I was up on the edge of my seat urging them on again. I am compelled to post on here again for the first time since last summer.

I hurt today and it feels good to be alive again!!!!

Just say this;
I'm just reading the reports of the match and seeing the coverage on the TV and I just cannot believe that this has happened.
I cannot believe that I am going to be able to stand in Anfield next weekend and have Kenny Dalglish walk out as our manager.

It is like a bizarre dream.
After the year that we have had, all the turmoil, the anger, the sadness, the shame, the fear, here we are new owners who seem to be sane and of good intentions and we have the greatest living figure of our football club as manager.

This is a real opportunity for the football club to put to bed the ghosts of 2010 and move on. Whatever your opinions on Rafa, on Roy, on Hicks and Gillett. We can let them go and unite.

We have come through it, albeit fractured and frustated, and now we are in a place where we can press on, push forward and do it all together, with a common goal, united. And what a figure to unite behind.

I have supported LFC for nearly 38 years now, in that time I have seen the best and the worst of the team. In my mind the worse has just happened in both the playing on the field and how the club has nearly been run into the ground. As with most fans King Kenny was by far my favourite players that I have seen play for LFC. Not just on the park, but the way he conducted himself off it as well. I have also had the honour of meeting the man at a charitable golf day in which my father was playing. There is no one else who could unite the club going forward and hopefully make a few of the players wake and get over themselves.

He will install a believe in the team and also a way of playing that will excite the fans, I wish him well and I love the fact that his name will again be chanted and sang by the best fans in the world.

The King is back, God bless the King!!!

Oh my, how good does it feel to have our club back!

Lets not forget a few thing, Kenny built the best footballing side this country has ever seen. I was lucky enough to have a season ticket in the Kemlyn Road for all his years and what a privilege that was.

I doubted he'd have it in him but the sight of him on the touchline and in his interviews convince me he has still got it within him to do the same, and the thing with Kenny is the sky is the limit. There is nothing beyond his scope, he's like Cruyff, he knows the game inside out and beyond what anybody on here can comprehend.

As the great man says "the game may have changed but the principles remain the same"

I look forward to another great adventure with the King at the helm, it may have been delayed by 20 years but in some ways it makes this moment even better.
