A promise to the next manager
« on: January 6, 2011, 08:54:10 PM »
I promise to support the next manager, no matter who he is.  I don't care whether it's O'Neill, Coyle, Rafa, Nicol, Bruce Arena, Loew, Klopp, Rijkaard - it doesn't matter.  Whoever it is, we will return to the Liverpool Way - OUR WAY - and support the manager and the team through thick and thin.  We will be a positive force in every aspect of it.  Hodgson is the remaining tumor from a horrible bout of cancer of this club - once he is gone, then we can get back to being the best supporters in the land.

So make your decision, FSG, and I'll support you.  Everyone else in on that pledge?

(Btw, I hate starting new topics, but this didn't fit naturally in any existing thread I could find)
In Brendan, we trust.  In Rafa, we love.

Aye, too right, as long as he doesn't speak out against the fans and players and shows class and loyalty, I will be fully behind him.

I would hope that any new manager brought in by FSG who maybe isn't fully aware of the history and traditions of the club would be fully briefed on what the fans expect of their manager and what mistakes have been made by Mr Hodgson to turn the fans against him so badly.

We're spoilt. We will support the next manager when we want to and not support him when we don't. It worked against H&G, its eventually worked against Roy, so we'll probably keep doing it.

If a kid throws a tantrum and gets what they want, guess what they'll do next time they want something? No matter how much they promise not to, they're gonna throw a tantrum again!

There's difference between throwing a tantrum and aiding in stopping your club from going down the swanny due to an obvious poor manager, who's ethos is not in line with what the club is about.

Learn about the club, engage with its history and respect the supporters - and we will give unconditional support toward you. We are not merely a 'big club' for your CV, nor a stepping stone to any national job. Contrary to media and Hodgson belief, we do not expect to be winning the league nor do we expect to achieve success because of our name - what we do expect is hard work, discipline and a positive attitude towards managing this football club. Understand that the feelings toward our current manager are unprecedented, and certainly will not be repeated in the future.

Good luck.

As long as the manager respects the Liverpool way then he will get my fullest support.
Therefore i cannot support the current manager and hope NESV get the right man in when they replace him.

It would be nice but you can bet a few bad results and he will be abused and critised and compared unfavourably to Rafa. That seems to be the new Liverpool way.
