Shelvey and Ngoo have got records that are just as good at u19 level.
Are they? Ngoo has 3 U19 caps (no tournament) so it seems to me like he's more of a "squadplayer" for England U19, while Wickham already has a U21 cap despite his injuries. Remember Wickham and Paco were the best strikers in U17 EC, Ngoo is yet to show anything like that on international level. I think Shelvey is one of the very best players in England U19 but he needs to shine against qualified opponents in an international youth tournament (like EC or WC) before we can say he's been great in U19. Afterall friendlies and qualify games aren't exactly top games. I'm not suggesting Ngoo and Shelvey don't have good potential, just that Wickham has proved a lot more on international level for the youth teams.

Were the scouts definitely watching Wickham and not Marvin Sordell?

Know someone that plays for Watford. Says the boy is a fantastic talent, and they all really like him as a guy. Quick and able to shoot off either foot. I reckon they'd sell for a couple of million.

With the uncertainty surrounding the manager's position signing quality youngsters could be the way forward this transfer window.

Roy Keane is also apparently close to losing his job at Ipswich. Not sure how that will affect the Wickham situation.

Why I think Rijkaard would be a great manager.. He blooded in superstars such as Xavi, Puyol and Iniesta, perfect to do a similar job here..

You have better contacts inside the club that the Metro. The Metro has no original stories in it ever. It is a rehash of the Evening Standard and the Daily Mail.

Being managerless could cut both ways. Not every club has a Christian Purslow that can step in and handle transfer business whilst searching for a manager.

He did. He's on fire at the moment and I don't think Watford are as sound financially as Ipswich. Could be picked up for much cheaper... though you'd hope that price isn't an issue if we're talking £10m, rather than £40m-£50m's.

Watford are finally sorting themselves out financially, but they are a selling club. They have one of the best academies in the country, and blood their young players - give them Championship experience and then sell them on to pay the bulls. They will sell anyone if the price is right. One fly in the ointment is their manager situation. Mackay is odds on to quit and take over at Burnley. He has not outright denied it.

Agreed, plus if we are stocking up on loads of real prospects it will be a great carrot for a progressive managerial target in the summer. 'Look at all these exciting prospects, it's your squad use it how you want to'

Aye, them bulls are a fucking nightmare. Make a right mess of the pitch if theyre not paid on time.
I've always supported the club not the individual. I'd like to see the club back where I most fondly remember it, at the top. That means there's no place for Carragher or anyone else who is past their sell by date.

With the strike of a pen we've gone from a club that a young starlet would be mad to join to one that I imagine would be a very attractive proposition.

Perfect time to close in on Wickham. Come and play under Dalglish, next to Torres..

Sign him up.

Is Connor Wickham that good? I remember him from European Championship U20 from last summer, and he looked decent enough, but £10 mill. for him is alot of money for a player of that age.
Every power draws its ultimate consequences at every moment. Supposing that this also is only interpretation-and you will be eager enough to make this objection?-well, so much the better. (Nietzsche; Beyond Good & Evil, p. 30-31).

Could be well worth it mate, I mean it's always a gamble with the talents. This one would be worth it imo.

No, Wickham and Keane had a falling out, I believe.

Keane, Wickham and the club denied that ever happened though. Wickham was on the bench one week, so a red topped newspaper conjured up the story they had a bust-up. All bullshit.
