Aye, fair enough, without getting into the 'comparing attackers with defenders' stuff too. And there's only two so far.

Have to strongly disagree with Collymore. He only came to line his fucking pockets, and treated the club with contempt as far as I can tell. He and Ince are about the only former players I hate with a passion.

 :D

But he was (and probably is) still better than Diouf!  ;)

thought Collymore played superbly for us for best part of two seasons and treated the club with far more respect than many of his clubmates at the time. Everything he says about the club now is positive.

His biggest failure was his mental problems. Often derided, often overlooked and almost always misunderstood.

Yes, he has recently been misunderstood in a few car parks as well.

Agree about Ruddock, no class whatsoever, the man is pond life.

Danny Murphy

Not a bad shout actually. I'd say he was better than Diouf for a start. And his goalscoring record is pretty good for a midfielder.

Deffo taking the piss with Biscan though!

the list really does show the age of most people posting on rawk with all teh fairly recent players being named.

Think any players who helped us win championships, euro cups etc from the 60's, 70's, 80's are worth more of a shout than the showmen of the 90's with a few notable exceptions.

kinki - give us your three nominations then ....

... there's at least one absolute legend not named yet who would push for a starting XI place in our greatest team.

Surely Glen Hysen deserves a place in there. Maybe not one of our best ever defenders but did at least contribute to real trophies?

Murphy has a case as he has been named player of the year. That said, after january, the outstanding Murphy saw him lose his regular RM to be moved around on the midfield where spots where available, as Diouf made that one his own, and has so far not reclaimed it.

I'd include Baros though. So far he has proven more than Diouf.

On a side note, ged said earlier this season than Lm was probably Diouf's best position. Just struck me: Why didn't he play him there last season, instead of playing whoever was the least poor there, when we had a player like Murphy on the right? ???

Steve Staunton, remember his last appearance when he came on for Traore and hit the bar in Athens.

I almost suggested Stan, but then I'm biased because I've always had a soft spot for him.  ;D

He doesn't seem to be on the list though - either accepted or rejected.  ???  What was the verdict Rushian?

Well as there has been some piss taking with respect to adding names..

Why did Pele select Diouf in the first place?
Could it be he was African Player of the Year twice?
Could it be he lead his side to upset the reigning World Cup Champions ( France)?

I realize at club level he hasn't found the success he's had elsewhere but surely we should give him his due..

But as to the list..
Where Riise? It was his inclusion at left mid that made the side go during the Treble season. That's when we went on the run from Jan-May.

Can I take this moment to point out that Riise wasn't at the club during the Treble season and that although he had one good season that hardly constitutes an inclusion in our 100 greatest players list.

There are people taking the piss on here - I saw Ince mentioned :D
