Lucas                    Meirelles

In my view if Gerrard and Torres are fit then they have to start. In a 4-4-2 formation my team would be-
                                         Reina
Johnson              Soto                      Skrtel             Aurelio

Gerrard               Lucas                    Meireles          Maxi

                                    Babel    Torres

What about Newcastle are Barton and Nolan back for them?plus their 2 CBs Coliccini and Williamson or whatever their names are?

stevie g is expected to be ready for newcastle game and roy said he only "tweaked a bit of scar tissue." I find it hard to believe he won't start against toon, i just want to know who he replaces. Hoping roy doesnt break up the new found strength we have in the middle

Its nice to finally have some selection competiton!  Im unsure as to whether i would like babel or Ngog up front to parner torres. Both had a terrific game against Villa.  Think Kuyt should be rested for a period of the game, but saying that you never know when hes going to pop up and produce a goal  :) Im glad im not picking the team at the moment

                       Reina
 Johnson     Soto     Skrtel       Aurelio
               Meireles       Lucas
   Babel                                  Maxi
               Ngog        Torres

For me. I think dropping Kuyt for a game would do him some good. Not that he's been terrible; but he wasn't great last game, and often plays better after a nice rest. Babel, Ngog, Lucas and Meireles deserve to start based on form. And Torres because he's Torres.

Fuck me, how long has it been since we had competition for places?!

My team for what it's worth:

                     Pepe

Magic      Soto       Skrtel      Aurelio

Babel      Meireles   Lucas     Maxi

            Gerrard

                     Torres

Kuyt needs a rest for me, too much football the last couple of seasons.

Oh, nearly forgot:

Poulsen.  :wave

Agreed, the best spot for Poulsen is "Left Right Out".....That is what you were trying to diagram there, wasn't it? ;D

Based on form, Babel has to come in for Kuyt.  Even if our whole right side pushes up with Johnson and Babel, our left can easily rotate back and become a 3-4-3 of sorts.  We need to be more fluid anyway...

If Gerrards not fit just wack Ngog back up there as he seems to of come of age recentley. Its about time Torres got another goal. Newcastle 0 - 3 Liverpool. Torres x 2 and Raul to get his first.

                                   Reina

Johnson        Kyrgiakos        Skrtel            Konchesky

                        Lucas           Meireles

         Kuyt                                           Maxi

                           Ngog       Torres

I don't think Gerrard will be risked at all if we're cruising.

Babel played really well with Ngog but if remains to be seen if he can do the same with Torres. I'd like to see him come on (maybe for Ngog) with 20-30 to go.

Maxi keeps his spot, but the pressure is on Kuyt to prove he deserves his place.

I'd stick with pretty much the same side, Torres in for Kuyt. With Gerrard if passed fit on the bench.

                                   Reina

Johnson        Kyrgiakos        Skrtel            Aurelio

                        Lucas           Meireles

         Babel                                           Maxi

                           Ngog       Torres

Have a feeling Roy will go with this though if Gerrard is fit to play.

                                   Reina

Johnson        Kyrgiakos        Skrtel            Konchesky

                        Lucas            Gerrard

         Meireles                                           Maxi
                                Kuyt
                                          Torres

For this game I'd like to see:

                   Reina
Johnson Kyrgiakos Skrtel Aurelio
         Lucas       Meireles
Gerrard                          Maxi
            Babel       Torres

Can't split Ngog and Babel as to who I'd prefer to start but went with Babel because he never really had a chance and deserves one. Plus it puts him in the shop window should we want to sell hinm in January.

500 quid in the overdraft and I owe more than my overdraft limit... but a mate says he can hook us up for a ticket in the away end. Would be my first away game in the Liverpool end (4th away in total) so I dunno what to do cos im so damn skint... Is it true that noone sits in their correct seats?

Think Barton's injured still. Guthrie played on Sunday and was poor throughout. Shame about him like. The above team is what I'd pick anyway.

As much as I am a big supporter/defender of Kuyt, he does not deserve to start again whilst Babel does.

4-2-2-2 like so:

Reina
Johnson Kyrgiakos Skrtel Aurelio
Lucas Meireles
Babel Maxi
Torres Ngog[/quote]

or 4-2-1-2-1 if you will with Babel and Ngog behind Torres as the second '1'.

I would go with this as it makes sense in regards to form and fitness

                       Reina

Johnson    Soto     Skrtel       Konch

Babel      Lucas        Raul       Maxi

                Ngog    Torres

Sub: Kuyt, Gerrard, Cole, Aurelio, Jones, Kelly, Poulsen

Dropping Kuyt onto the bench as he does look a bit off, and not going to rush Gerrard in. Knowing RH, Cole might get a start in place of either Babel's place or for Ngog to play behind Torres though and that Gerrard may also be rushed back into the side. However, the line up I'm thinking would seem ideal as newcastle are in a bit of a mess atm and so we should only bring out the likes of Kuyt and Gerrard if things are not going to plan.

No new manager for Newcastle, battered by what has happened, unless Pardew is appointed before the game, then there's also new tactics....... seems like they're there for the taking

.......but ROY WILL PLAY DEFENSIVE FOOTBALL

Honestly, if we lose or draw in this game, I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry

Alan Pardew to be named Newcastle manager

talkSPORT understands Alan Pardew will be named Newcastle manager later today.

It is understood that the former West Ham boss will meet with Magpie officials later today and should necogications progress well, Pardew will become the new man at St James' Park.

Pardew left Southampton back in August and has had spells with Reading, Charlton and West Ham previously.

He famously lead the Hammers to the 2006 FA Cup final where they lost to Liverpool on penalties.

Predict that we'll play:

            Torres Kuyt
    Maxi Lucas Meireles Cole
Aurelio Skrtel Kyrgiakos Johnson
               Reina

Could be that Kuyt and Cole swap positions.

This would be nice, although I doubt Aurelio will get the nod over Konckesky, as he's basically Roy's pet LB.  It would also be harsh to leave both Ngog and Babel out after they both had great games last week.  Would be nice to see at least one of them up top with Torres.

Roy will almost certainly go with a conservative 4-4-2 away from home, which will be frustrating if we sit back, but here's to hoping we attack.

Carroll vs Soto will be awesome to watch.  That is unless Newcastle decide not to play him due to his discontent over Hughton being sacked.

Joe Cole can't start surely? He looked totally exhausted after 10 mins on Monday night. Seriously. I bet he won't last 1st half. Or he'll be just strolling around the pitch, his arms akimbo, like he did against Villa. That was bizarre stuff from a 90k pro if you ask me.

Must keep Raul and Lucas together even if Stevie is fit.

Bet he disrupts that to put SG back in his favourite position, player power rules!

I was watching this players power for several years, I did not like it then and even less now, but as log as we have a coach like ROy there is a void in leadership that the sacred players fill, it is the law of physics.  Wiith all due  respect fro SG , Torres and Carra, a real coach may listen to the players, hear their opinion. it is good, but he must take decisions best for the team and best to satisfy this or that idol just to make him happy.

I noticed that too, I asked my mate at one point why he was walking around the pitch instead of chasing the ball. Especially because he should be showing some fight to try and win a starting role on recent form.
Long live the King.
