We're probably going to get handed a writ by Hicks. Hopefully that means fuck all. (Or he'll lose even more money.) My point is: can't you be more specific. Otherwise it's hardly worth its own thread.

I hate go on too much but it just seems to get better and better as far as Broughton is concerned.

His business acumen seems to be out of this world; that is coming from someone who doesn't know much about these things mind.

A lot of credit needs to go to Nick Harris. He got slated here in August for his negative reporting of Huang but he's been amongst the most reliable reporters during the whole process.
He then starts trying to punch the ghost and starts telling it to fuck off

Because I think he could be dodgy as fuck and I've had enough of that

Being served a writ means very little. Expect writs to be served on any combination of RBS / Broughton/LFC by G&H in due course.

Kenny Huang is a complete farce.  Fact.
He always was.  While everyone was getting lathered up about the possibility of the Chinese government having a stake in Liverpool FC, they only looked at this guy's skin and not at his credentials or is backing.

I have read Bamba's posts on here that he had a connection to the Huang bid and the work that was going behind the scenes to put things together.  I amnot going to challege that rigt now, but I will say that it is HIGHLY unlikely that anything like that ever took place.   That said,  (1) I 100% DOUBT that Huang represented an actual CREDIBLE bid and (2) I 100% DOUBT that Huang even represented real money.

I work on Wall Street as a trader.  It's a relatively small world.  Somebody usually knows somebody who knows the guy you are asking about.  In the case of Kenny Huang, no one has ever done business with the guy let alone worked with him.

He claims to have gone to 2 schools right here in NYC (Columbia & NYU).  No one knows him from there.

As far as I can figure out, he was a failed stock-broker here in the States.  He then picked up and moved to HKong and tried it there only to fail again.

So he's sitting in HKong trying to figure out his options and looking @ China and saying "This is my shot... How am I going to take part in the prosperity that is going to wash over some people in this country."

So he reinvents himself.  As it was he had no real skill-set.  He wasn't a good sales guy when it came to financial products to clients....  but maybe he can be a decent sales guy with something else...  So he decides to be a middleman between Investors in the West and China.

Sounds good.  I am all for second chances and people reinventing themselves.  No harm there.

So what does he start doing next... He markets clothing.  He markets energy drinks.  He markets up-start futbol leagues.  Before you know it he's actually starting to rub shoulders with "people-who-know-people-who-have-money".

He tries to take a bazillion meetings with the people who actually have the money. However they aren't interested in talking with him because they already have 20 guys who do his middleman job and do it better than him.  The feedback that he gets back is something like "I don't need another US investor.  I am fine on that front. If you really want to help me you will find ME actual investments in the West."

So Huang thinks about it.  He has no money.  He doesn't know anyone with real money.  But he does know people who know people who have money.

Rather than go after them one-at-a-time, he comes up with a plan and presents it to 100 rich Chinese.  His plans were everything from investing in the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers to trying to buy Liverpool FC.

I'll use the Cleveland Cavs as an example...  It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the holy grail for sports clubs' commercial operations is to break into China without any piracy. Huang knows this the same way that all of us know this.  So he goes to the Cleveland Cavs and says I am fronting a consortium to purchase 15% of the Cavs.  In return you will receive some money, but more importantly my group will help you market more LeBron James jerseys in China.  The Cavs' brass says...  Let's see how you do marketing the jerseys in China before we enter anything formal.  So he has a year or something like that.  Over that year, LeBron James jersey Chinese sales dropped from #1 down to #3 for all NBA players. We are talking about the greatest athlete on the planet.  It took no time for the Cavs to not return his calls.

As far as where the money behind Huang is coming from....  It's not.  Huang claims to have the backing of Adrian Cheng, who is a family member of the guy who runs New World Group, a company that has some hotels and some banks.  The problem for Huang is that even if he does know this cousin Adrian Cheng, that Adrian Cheng doesn't have the money.  His twice-removed cousin or uncle does.

This guy is a farce.  I think it's ridiculous that the British press have built this guy up into something that he is not and I think it's a shame that Huang has used his publicity around this great club, to keep up the appearances of some scam that he's running on the other side of the globe. It's also a shame that sooo many people drank the kool-aid with this guy and didn't do their homework, but I guess when everyone was looking for Hicks & GG gone they were willing to consider any option (i.e. that Syrian guy or the Indian scam artist or Dubai, too).  A little due diligence is all it took to figure out that this guy isn't real.  Probably took Broughton 10 seconds.

That's incredibly poor if true. You can understand Tony Evans mucking it up, cos afterall, he's a sports journo, not a business one. But the Business Desk.....? "China To Buy Liverpool FC" on the front page, was it?!?

Yes....   Most important thing is to keep a seat in a job.   Things are going to get a lot worse.  Fact.  (Rafa fact).    If you can upgrade a job now, do it.  If you have a job offer grab it.  And if you are in a good seat realize that the grass  isn't greener.

In terms of investment....  I'll keep it futbol related since I'm on a futbol site.  Take a look @ public companies in the Bundesliga.   Other than Bayern they are all in a world of hurt.  But just check out the discrepancy between tv rights deals (domestically & INTERNATIONALLY) between the 2 leagues and it will give you a good understanding of the upside.  Not to mention that the quality of futbol being played there is 2nd only to the EPL.   hope that helps..... :)

Yes, makes sense our friend. Just need some spare euros to invest in such but the current cost of following our team around the EPL and europe doesn't lead to having any spare dosh. Credit card loves it though!!!!  :'(

Saved from a bullet there, thanks God this chancer never took our club.

What I don't understand is why Bamba is silent on all this Huang stuff, the ship has already been sailed and he needs to come out and say what he knew, he sounds like a genuine fella so I guess he was posting here on good faith. Admitting you were wrong is not bad.

Like Broughton said the genuine buyer of Liverpool would only be revealed as soon as the deal was done. Up until that day there would be no media talk of that buyer's interest and that was exactly how it happened.

Nobody had heard of NESV's (or Lin's) interest until the 6th October. Huang on the other hand played his "interest" out in full glare of the media. The fact that he chose not to go through the proper channels suggests he wasn't for real. Him and his buddy Gannis made the biggest song and dance about everything bar one crucial thing; the money. They were happy enough to let the CIC (Chinese government) rumours circulate but would neither confirm them, which they couldn't as they weren't true, or deny them, which they wouldn't as it wasn't in their interest.

He did the same thing on SSN today. He strictly asked for no LFC related questions to be asked at the conference then afterwards he refused to answer a single question posed by the reporter for the simple fact that he's got nothing of substance to back himself up with.

Huang knew he wasn't going to buy Liverpool but he's used our club as a stepping stone for a bit of free PR. Just like H&G he's put nothing into our club but in six months he's gone from being a Mr Nobody to "that bloke who was interested in buying Liverpool FC".

Vladi Legend...on THIS post above ^^^ you are spot on...

Listen...  Any great brand under distress (and LFC is a GREAT mother-f-ing brand) is going to go through this sort of stuff.

Do I hate scumbags like Huang (no money China) and Kirdi (no money Syria/Canada) and Subrata Roy ( who runs Sahara.... think I lie... try me...) and how they have used the challenging times of our club (and to them, our brand) to grab 15 minutes of fame ?  YES....  I F*CKING hate HATE scumbags like this with a passion.

But that said, I fully respect their right to make some money...

Do I like that they are conning people....  Hell no...  But they aren't breaking the law (from what I can tell).  All they are doing is playing the media...

So let's get down to it....
Guys like this or any aggressive scumbag con artist can do this.  But it's up to people like us to believe their crap or not !!!

To listen to people who love this team talking about these guys like they were saviors was absolutely torturous.

Shame on us for believing this absolute crap...!

Check this out
  • It literally would have taken 1 person 3 hours working on due diligence to figure out that Huang was a complete no money no contact douche bag.
  • It literally would have taken 1 person 15 minutes of work to figure out that Kirdi was a farce.
  • It literally would have taken 1 person 1 hour of digging to figure out that Subrata Roy and his company Sahara was a joke.
Don't believe me....  Aggressively google this stuff for the amount of times that I put down above....

This isn't rocket science...  It was all there all along...

No offense but F him !  He's no "journalist" if he isn't doing his own due diligence.  He was a good player, but gimme a break...

At best he might be someone who is currently VERY BAD @ his current job.

At worst he's a WIND-UP ARTIST to LFC supporters and trading off our hysteria for his online # of article reads.  He's a die a dozen...  Put him in the same pot as all the rest of em...

No offense, but I am so tired of people making excuse for people like this.

I think the only one journo who came with shit load of credibility is Nick Harris of sportingintelligence.com, he made a due dilligence of Huang and exposed the motherfucker for real, the fact that some were bashing him on here for doing his work is unreal.

The man deserves a credit for what he has done.
