Two feet off the ground, reckless challenge. Its a red card. Doesn't matter if Cole is "not that type of player"
go fuck yourself. That was never a red.

As sad as it is , it's time to move Carra on , we need to build a new back four as Carra's presence is becoming more of a detroment to the team than the positivity , he causes the team to drop to the 18 yard line and his distribution is awful , there's no room for sentiment in football , Roy needs to phase him out asap.

What I'd give for Roy to come out guns blazing after the game and categorically state that Twatkinson will never ref a Liverpool game again. Fucking knobhead.
You have posted literally nothing of substance to flame about.  Your "points", and I dread to call them that, were superficial and completely arbitrary.  Nothing you said could be argued against because nothing you said elaborated a position of any kind.

Two feet off the ground, reckless challenge. Its a red card. Doesn't matter if Cole is "not that type of player"

Except that his trailing leg didn't come off the ground.  Never a red card.

And though you can say that Wilshere's is worse, it was marginally worse, and the right call was a yellow for him.  Thus, it clearly should be a yellow for Cole as well.  Not talking through rose-coloured glasses, it's just the way a neutral should have called it.  Unlucky for us that Atkinson missed the call; will be an uphill battle now.

Poor first half but I think there are far too many people on here being as rash as the twat of a ref in castigating Roy. It was always going to be a difficult first game and Arsenal were always going to see the majority of possession. We could have regrouped for the second half and tried to get a stranglehold on the game had Cole not been sent off, but now it's just a question of containing them as long as we can and trying to hit them on the break with Ngog, and eventually (I assume) Torres. Somebody suggested bringing Lucas on for Kuyt and moving Gerrard to the right, I think that would be a good idea and with Gerrard cutting in it could give us some options. Going to be a long half now though.
How come Aquilani wasn't in the squad today?

but his 2 feet werent off the ground, he makes a lunge, a late poor one, but when he does his right trailing foot is still on the ground.

I'm not even sure Atkinson saw it, think the Arsenal players' reaction made him give the red. We should have reacted badly to the Wilshere tackle and he'd have gone. Need to be nastier.

Presumably Torres has 45 minutes in him..would be interesting to see changes at half time.

I'm hoping Lucas for Masch, Torres for Ngog..Maxi for Kuyt....keep the ball better and put the pressure on them.

This.......... cant quite believe the team he put out actually. How does dirk get a start. How.

Huh how can you play anymore defensively than we did under rafa? At least we dont have 2 def midfielders on..  Arsenal have always been tricky to play against.
I'm not sure how much you know about football, but having two players playing side-by-side just in front of the back four counts as two defensive midfielders. Yes, I'm talking about Masch and Gerrard.

Frustated. Didn't see much difference between Wilshere's and Cole's tackle, yet we get punished and down to 10 men and he gets to stay on the pitch

Well they are well ahead of us in terms of keeping the ball, get the ball look up and pass to a red shirt for crying out loud.

Unlucky start for Roy, but we really need to consider this whole business of playing Joe            Cole in the hole. Get Gerrard back in there, Cole on the left.

For the next half, take out Jovanovic and play Aurelio.

Most negative I've ever seen us.....poor lad ngog is 30yards from any red and carra seems intent on being fucking alonso again he needs to be dropped he's the reason we play so fuckin deep
Sorry to say, but Carra is the weak link at the back in the ball playing stakes. Don't seem to have the confidence to play the ball easy. Bring Aurelio on and move Agger to the middle with Skrtel. We're crying out for Torres as well - Ngog is incapable of reading the defensive line. Just shows we need another Torres-type striker rather than a target man.

you don't think we've looked solid at the back? they've barely created a chance despite having most of the ball

Think the red was for moving from Chelsea to Liverpool rather than the challenge itself.  Given that the studs up challenge from Wilshere which was IMO worse than Joe's challenge, I really do think that.  Fucking ridiculous refereeing.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

And I can't believe some people are slagging off Roy and the team for ONE HALF OF FOOTBALL.  Give it a rest, yes we were not very good, but really, why don't we just fire Roy and all the players now and get it over with? ::)  I understand the frustration, but let's be more constructive here.

Never a red, total cockface of a ref. He started off letting the game flow then started giving some soft ones and ultimately comes out with a decision like that. Why can't ref's make their fucking minds up how they are going to officiate?

As far as the match goes, we started well, looking to go forward and create chances. There seemed to be quite a lull after both teams had settled with neither team really going for it and some slack passing and decisions. I don't think either team has really showed that they want to score goals. But it's to be expected with two 4-5-1 formations, and you could say it's early in the season as an excuse. Hopefully they won't batter us now we're down to 10 men. Should test Roy's tactics.

first half has been a bit pedestrian which will suit arsenal as they are keeping the ball better.
cole tackle was the 1st and last we saw of him. bad yellow soft red tackle but players will get away with worse.
to say we are worse than under rafa is a bit early as the players are not fit and we usually give our managers a chance
