It looks to me as if we have signed another 'average' player. I'll hold back my complete opinion until I see the lad play

Barely 16. Must have been the youngest lad on the pitch tonight? And looked streets ahead of everyone else.

Great stuff Raheem.

So can I start burdening him with all my unreasonable future dreams and fantasies of a teenage lad from our system burning up the league with Kenny mentoring him to magnificence already or is it best to wait a while?

Just posted on another thread, the similarities between Sterling tonight and a young Michael Owen were obvious to me, glided past players and passed the ball into the net.

My neighbour works alongside him in the youth set up and said he was dead excited to receive his 1st team squad number last week - 38 I think he said.

Sticking my neck out a bit here but I think Sterling is even better than Owen at that age. Long way to go yet but he's got some talent that kid.

Did he just turn 16?? I watched the game, he's definitely impressive. I was gonna say that he needed to build up his body without knowing he's so young.

Great game! Congrats to him.

No hype, mate, at that level he's easily class. Question is if he keeps improving at this rate but he's not like Owen, no. He's good on his left, some dangerous balls in and has some good close control. Needs to be left alone to learn at his own pace though.

That article on the 2nd page by Maddock (from last year) is the biggest load of tosh I have ever read with regards to Purslow's involvements in the youth system. I know Maddock and Purslow have a 'thing' but try not to make it too obvious.

Anyway, well done Raheem.

Sterling was outstanding tonight in what was an excellent team performance. His finishing was out of the top drawer. I notice he's one of a few youngsters Kenny has given squad numbers to, so perhaps we'll see him on the bench in a Europa League game, with the possibility of him getting on if we're in control?
