Well done Raheem Sterling
« on: August 4, 2010, 05:13:29 PM »
I just feel that it's been a bit overlooked on here.
There aren't many 15 year olds who have made appearances for top clubs, pre-season or not.

For me our brightest youngster is Suso but closely followed by Sterling who is miles ahead of his age group. Should be playing in the reserves not under 18's.

I thought of this the other day and then forgot again - too much going on.

Both got a few minutes, but it all counts.

Hope they achieve their potential

Im not scared of making a big deal over Suso, its pretty obvious he is going to be an amazing player and Rafa deserves credit for buying him because I think he will be Rafa's best signing!

Sterling im also confident he will turn out to be a very good player as long as he can improve on the more simple aspects of his game such as decision making, composure and teamwork.

Loved that little bit about insua haha, quote was about why he selected to play sterling and suso.

I saw the title of this thread and guessed that it would be in the third post before someone mentioned Suso.

I was close.

Sterling looks a boss player. Absolutley class in every Academy game I have seen (highlights admittedly), far and away the best talent at his age, and your right Doctor, a big deal should be made about the lad. But only in context to his age, and the amount of time it will still take for him to develop.

From the bits of him I have seen, he looks very capable, but so do a fair few other floating about the Ressies and Academy.

Suso is a bit like the spanish version of Ozil. Has a great left foot, can make some amazing passes and is good on the ball. Looks like he could well be the next big star to come out of our youth system. He can play on the left wing but more suited centrally because his passing is so good. Keep your eye on this lad, he means business  :D

Sterling is a bit like Lennon but he can use both feet and is good at shooting. Can play on either wing. He is completely destroying all the full backs in the U18 league at the moment and should just be put into the reserves even though he's only 15.

Arf!
She'd say, "Would you stop naming nuts!" And Hubert used to be able to make the sound, he couldn't talk, but he'd go "rrrawr rrawr" and that sounded like Macadamia nut. Pine nut, which is a nut, but it's also the name of a town. Pistachio nut. Red pistachio nut. Natural, all natural white pistachio nut.

All that aside, he's a 15 year old lad playing against the likes of Juan Arango and Michael Bradley in a friendly game.

Impressive just to get an appearance. He has a long way to go still, but it's definitely impressive for someone so young to get to play.

I thought this lad was 17/18, especially when I realised he played against BM. Was very shocked when I realised he was only 15! He must be a lad with a great, great amount of potential to be playing for Liverpool at that age, even if it is pre-season!

I'd forgotten he hasn't even turned 16 yet myself. The lad could still play next season with the U16's if the club wanted.

Good on him for getting the run out, and for not being shy with it. I know he only got the ball twice but what the hell, he's 15. Nice little dribble and a ridiculous tackle. He doesn't lack for confidence, that's a certainty.

You can just tell when a kid's a step above and sterling certainly is, loooooong way to go for him yet but the talent's there to see, two good feet, technical ability and speed. Hope to see him progress and make his way through the ranks at his own speed and learn what a great oppertunity he has along the way, football's littered with players with unfulfilled potential but i feel the 4 s's we have at the club now (Sterling, Suso, Silva and Shelvey) could end up saving us ALOT of money in the future and prove to be a fantastic legacy for Rafa, not that his detractors will give him any credit for him unfortunately.

I'm guessing a lot of people will forget his age! He must be very mature for his age, because I certainly wasn't when I was 15!

Go watch the highlights of the Academys game against Celtic,Sterling is finally gonna be our knew John Barnes 15 odd years later! There was one bit were he turned the defender inside out before putting it through his legs,it happened so quickly that i had to rewind it back on sky plus and pause it to see it again!
