Part of me is excited, part of me is aprehensive

I absolutly do not want to become Man City and go out to buy players like joleen lescott for £20 odd million

I want us to be a club where hard work pays dividends, a uptodate stadium, and where on the pitch success breeds more success.

I may be alone on this but i feel that if we did not have this enormous debt forced upon us and all of these interest payments would allow us to purchase the few extra players we need to win the league (add to that a new stadium with increased corporate  & regular matchday revenues)

If our new buyers are able to remove the debt and help finance a new stadium adn increase our standing abroad (more than it currently is) we could well be self sufficient.

where this leaves the owners who knows, if they are looking to make a profit from us which would appear to be the case, they will need to use our name and players to the full extent to cream the remaining off the top

similar to arsenal would be nice but actually winnning a thing or 2

I know I shouldn't, but all I keep thinking about is all the shit that Rafa had to put up with off these c*nts. Hands constantly tied, no money to speak of to spend, bad feeling, arguments with the lot of them, but loved the club to bits, understood the club, the city, and the fans. Had to leave, and as soon as he does we're on the brink of supposedly having zillions. It's just not right.

Nothing against Roy at all, and I'm not going to derail the thread, just a thought that keeps popping in to my head.

Feel exactly the same. Slightly sad that he won't get the chance to win what he could have had he been backed a bit more at crucial times (Simao, Alves etc etc). Still be made up if all goes how it seems to be going...

Liverpool could enter into future partnerships with Apple and Walmart

Liverpool stand to become the most powerful club in world football if the takeover deal with a Far East Sovereign Wealth fund is completed.

The deal currently being negotiated by Kenny Huang, and his Far East partner has already laid the blueprint to make Liverpool the wealthiest club on the planet.

A Soccernet source has been given an insight into the ambitious plans to launch Liverpool in China, with internet, sponsorship, and promotions aimed to push Liverpool beyond the means of even the richest clubs.

The source describes the plans as taking Liverpool to a scale as yet unseen in English football by tapping into the Chinese markets.

As the Far East group aim to wrest control from American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks, the source believes US companies from Walmart to Apple could seek to work with Liverpool to make enormous inroads within the Chinese markets. That would eventually enable Liverpool to compete to buy the world's best players in every position.

While it has been suggested that there are alternatives bidders, Hicks and Gillett would like the banks and the Anfield board to push up the price to include cash for the two shareholders, but the hedge fund backing this bid is in no mood to be stampeded into paying more for control.

The Far East Sovereign Wealth fund knows it is offering Liverpool their greatest opportunity to compete on a world stage with the financial big hitters, a chance that might not materialise again.

The new investors from the Far East believe that the shares are not worth more than the debt, and are therefore worthless, and they have no intention of paying Gillett and Hicks the premium price they have been demanding.

The Americans valued Liverpool at £800 million, but have since dropped their valuation to £600 million. The offer on the table, though, is to cover the debts of £350m, notably paying off the Royal Bank of Scotland's near-£240 million debt.

That is where Hicks and Gillett's Achilles heel lies, and the RBS is keen for this deal to proceed.

Agreed, I personally think we have one of  the strongest spines to a team in Europe. Pepe (best keeper in the world), Carra (STILL one of the top center halves in Europe), Stevie (one of best midfielders in the world), and of course Nando (THE best striker in the world). All we need is tinkering here and there and our team can compete on any front.

I’m trying so hard not to be optimistic about all of this, but the momentum in the last 48 hours has been incredible and the speed at which these things are happening makes me feel that the proposal has been long and hard in planning and is now being executed in a precise and carefully executed way – including PR and counter PR against the inevitable shit stirring of George Gillette. When asked "If it is the Chinese Government behind the bid would they pass the Fit and Proper person's test" he said - "We would not have a problem with that"

The interviewer then said "Even give their Human Rights record"  Scuadamore said - "I don't think there is any need for us to go into that"

The quotes are not exact but that is the gist of what he was saying!

Obviously he knows more than he is letting on and the first part to me indicates that something could happen quickly!

I know. Rafa is gonna be fine in Inter which makes me a little happy but I really wanted HIM to be the man to bring it all back to liverpool while telling the whole gobshite media pundits to shove it. O what a sweet press conference that would have made.

What angers me most about Rafa's time here is that every keeps going on about, 'o we should have kept crouch and bellamy and this and that...', when in reality every player sold was done so in order to improve that squad a little bit each year. THe squad he inherited was shit and with no money he had to be patient and methodical in the way he built his squad and it almost culminated in a title two years ago. Then he lost the central piece to the puzzle and things unravelled, much the way it will at arsenal when cesc goes.

Everyone always goes on about buying just one 20m player to improve the squad, but when there is no money you have to sell several players first. And if you are selling several players at once you can just buy 1 player to replace 3 and so Rafa always looked to upgrade little by little. He really only had one summer spree and that was the summer or torres, babel, lucas, and benny which turned out quite well for us. Torres has become the best striker, lucas is developing into a really good player, maybe roy makes use of babel's talents, and we were able to replace benny with cole + 6m so its all nice.

The only reason man united can go out and spend all their money on 1-2 players is because they have had the nucleus of their squad in place for years. Whens the last time they bought a big time Central Defender? Left Back? CM?

If Rafa was able to buy without having to sell then i am 100% confident that we would have won the league under his reign. Instead he had to climb a steady ladder and he almost managed it beautifully, not to mention completely redoing the youth system so that we can start to work producing young talent that can contribute in the team. <----- This is key. Man United lucked out when Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Neville and all them came up through the system allowing them to use their transfer budget to truly make impact signings. The signings of the likes of Torres for us.

I hope Roy can get that now. would be lovely.
