But everything you've posted is negative about him. This lacks balance. He did make mistakes. Everyone does. If he came back, he would still make mistakes. ANy manager does and will.
I was trying to justify my reason for not wanting him back thats all

We will never know if he could of turned it round or if he would of just carried on the slump

At some point we may find out exactly what's going on...

But until then the best thing to do is to speculate wildly.

Do you think he'll be bringing Sneijder with him?

it was thought to be 50/50 at the pinnicle of it all last season.. but who knows.

Nah. Never anywhere near that. There was the odd one here and there whining - home and away - but they always got shouted down and I saw a couple sparked here and there. It nearly got nasty at Blackburn away when there were a load of visitors from Ireland that let their feelings be known and were getting (rightly) abuse off some of the lads there - they followed them out as well - so it might have gone off from there outside as well.

Times journalist Ben Whatshisface says on the old Twitter that Rafa has in indeed been sacked via email.

Not sure what to believe at present - but he has unfinished business at our club and I'd welcome him back.

I don't think they are the problem. I think most match going reds with some sense would avoid phone ins and the like and form their own opinion. The problem are the fair weather arm chair fans who listen to what's been thrown at them by Sky/Tabloids and swallow it all like some cheap hooker. And there are many of this kind around.

But the one thing to note is that NESV seem to know about how shite the media is here. I don't think they would ever let it effect their judgement.
Too true.

I sincerely hope NESV/FSG can look beyond the media noise....

Ah right. For Hodgson he can just do it by text. Or Facebook. Or he'll find out when he turns up for work and Rafa's sat with his feet on Roy's desk and all of Roy's trophies are in a very small cardboard box by the door.

I openly admit that I thought it was time for a change when Rafa went but I now think it may be the ideal time to return for him. The new owners believe in developing young talent, statistical analysis of players and a very professional behind the scenes set up. Rafa got alot of this done under his tenure and I think with a steady hand on the tiller with nesv and a proper long term plan, rafa could comfortably come back in and sort things out quite quickly. I would want him to be more attacking in his style of play but I think his lack of financial support from the cancers was as much to blame for this issue as his own style.

I think it is unlikely to happen though as he has the same tendencies as vince cable with opening his mouth at the wrong time and that may put off nesv.Of course just to throw a real spanner in the works, arent there rumblings that Mourinho might be sacked by Real any day?

If Rafa had taken over when NESV were in charge, and achieved what he did, I don't think they would ever sack him after a 7th place finish. They would stick by him I reckon. Assuming of course all working relationships were good.

I think this is one of the "bad decisions" that John Henry alluded to in the live interview last week.
"...British people are highly indebted and obliged to Sikhs for a long time. I know that within this century we needed their help twice and they did help us very well. As a result of their timely help, we are today able to live with honour, dignity, and independence. In the war, they fought and died for us, wearing the turbans" Winston Churchill

My own opinion is that benitez is a gonner and that he and Internazionale are discussing compensation at the moment.

As for what next, I would take him back in a heartbeat. I have enough confidence in the man to let him wield the axe and make whatever changes to the team he sees fit.

However, anyone that turns up to the match with a 'Hodgson Out' banner deserves to be stoned to death.

what he said.

I always believed in Rafa and mainly because he had long term goals not just for the first team but also for the Academy and Youth Development, he seemed to actually care for the club, I love the man (so yeah, biased view...but still..)

Guillem Balague or however you spell the gentleman's name. Confessed on Sky Sports News that he is leaving Inter Milan. Also he added that Benitez is looking to move back into English football. Saying he still feels he has work to do at Liverpool.

I'd like Benitez back but not till the summer. He needs a break. Also if he could patch up his differences with Pako then next summer would be perfect. Anyways what ever he decides to do I'll be following with interest. Merry Christmas Boss.

So it's "The UB40 Rafa thread" then Kev?

All I know is what Marg22 posted in that thread Gareth.  However we exchanged quite a few PMs before she made the post, just trying to check facts and to check we weren't giving out something that was intended to be private.

Marg22 gave me corroborating evidence that she did know Montse Benitez.  She confirmed that the message on Montse's private facebook profile was genuine and that Rafa had been informed he was being dismissed in an email from the Inter club secretary.  She contacted Montse to check it was OK to publish the message on here and was told that yes we could they wanted people in Liverpool to know.

There remains the chance that Marg22 has hoodwinked me completely and their remains the chance that the Inter lawyers come up with something that stops it all becoming official but I deffo stand by the story and trust the info Marg gave me.
