I'd love to bring Riise back and have Fabio as back up to him.

EDIT- and a younger left back in the same mould as Insua who can learn from the two. I feel we need a bit more depth in that area like in 2008-09 when we had Aurelio, Insua and Dossena.
I would be completely against bringing Riise back to the club. Saw the game he played against Shakhtar. He was shite all game, didnt defend well and did nothing attacking wise. He was great for the club until his last season or so but we were right in moving him off.

Bring Back Sami.

Definitely need a title of this thread changed.

I was just thinking the same

 :)

I love the guy as a person - he's one of those who you simply know is a real decent sort - but fuck me we'd be better off with Douglas Bader.  :)

I can see Aurelio being let go in the summer (if someone will take him) he isnt the greatest left back, but has been ok for us (or good compared to the dross of left backs that weve had recently). but injurys will always keep him missing for long parts of the season

What makes him injury prone anyways? Last time he had a long-term injury was when he got injured in Brazil playing with son I think. That was a freak injury surely. I was hoping with the new fitness system we can avoid his recurring injuries. It's a shame because he's a decent left-back attacking-wise.

A talented and skillful player to have in the squad, but it's a pity that he often incurs an injury.

Injured again.
Looked like a hamstring injury.
Hopefully not too serious but we need desperately need some quality backup for him.

It's a real shame that our best left-footed players get injuried like that. They are both quality. (Agger and Aurelio) :(

Hate to say it, but I think if we got an offer for him in the summer, we should take it. Time to pull the trigger unfortunately, spends far too much time on the table, and even when he's off it, you just feel like he'll pick up a knock any second.
You have posted literally nothing of substance to flame about.  Your "points", and I dread to call them that, were superficial and completely arbitrary.  Nothing you said could be argued against because nothing you said elaborated a position of any kind.

As much as I love him as a player, we have to get rid.  Utterly pointless having a player that gets injured every 20 minutes, no matter how good he is.  Same goes for Agger too.

Don't want to talk about negatives today but as much as I love Fabio, we just can't rely on him to be first choice left back.  Great player but a new LB is a must.

Looked good until the injury. Not a good sign if this keeps happening as it usually tends to force an early retirement

yes he looked brilliant until the injury today.  he was really showing his class out there reading the flow of play and intercepting balls along that left hand side, starting attacks, etc.  it's really a shame he's injured again.

from what i could make out, he refused rafa's offer of p.a.y.p contract so was released, then when cecil decided to loan out insua and roy decided konchesky was a footballer we had to sign him and gave him a 2 year contract. stand corrected if wrong though, (and a dig at management not the player who's very good when fit & seems a decent bloke)

When fit Fabio would be an asset to any team. The problem is he's made of sugar nevermind glass.

It pains me to say it but he needs to be moved on, his injury record isnt going to change and as it stands he more of a liability to the team than an asset.

In fact if it wasnt for his injury record he profile would be far higher. The lad has class, skill and true footballing brain. I feel sorry for him, i really do, however the club needs to be ruthless in order to progress.

The biggest concern is Agger seems to be cut from the same cloth. Supremely talanted footballer but cannot go a month without getting injured.
Perception is nine tenths of reality

The only dampner on an otherwise brilliant day. It's sad how some very talented players are plagued by injury.
