Topic: Roy Hodgson on TalkSport this morning

I'll start by stating I very rarely listen to TalkSport due to the clowns that are constantly aired on there, however, was flicking through the stations this morning and caught the very end of Roy Hodgson live with Alan Brazil.

Did anyone hear this? What did he say?

They mentioned something about him "setting the record straight about Joe Cole and Mascherano"?

No clips on YouTube yet but i'd be interested to hear what he had to say so if anyone heard it, feel free to let us know

Hodgson expects to Mascherano, Torres and Gerrard to stay at Anfield. He said he called Mascherano and left a message congratulating on good World Cup and is looking forward to work with him and added to message that hopes Masch enjoys his holiday and he doesn't have to ring him back.

Roy is well liked and respected for a reason within the media, and from these early interviews it's clear to see why.

TalkSport is a tragically bad station presented by whoppers. I have never listened to it in my life. Sky Sports is also a tragically crap station owned by twats and presented (largely) by complete tools. I rarely watch it. But they're both major UK broadcasters, so berating our manager for talking to them is utterly senseless.

I like the interview for the fact that it doesn't seem the Mascherano situation is hopeless but Roy is no great interviewee IMO. He's the kind that talks a crapload but doesn't come across very insightful or say anything substantive - basically says things everyone and their mum already knows.

A refreshingly frank interview put Brazil and Irani in their place about Masch, i liked his thoughts on the build up to the season and his words about the younger players who will be playing over the coming week, i havent a problem with him talking to anyone in the media he has put his point across and hopefully quashed a few rumours

I had it on actually and following the interview (I think it was Alan Brazil) said that if he talks as well to the players then he should endear himself to the players very quickly and it can only be good. I didn't quite catch it as I was distracted but I am sure he also said that Stevie G and Carra talked Cole into signing - can anyone kindly clarify?

Incidentally, I know peoples views on here about Talksport / Talkshite* (* Delete As Applicable) but Alan Brazil is one of the few people who talk common sense IMO about Football on the radio - add Jimmy Armfield to that list too. It's always from the heart and it is never sensationalist unlike most on the station.

Gotta get used to lots of interviews I guess. Luckily enough, a lot of them are just puff pieces where not much of note is revealed that we dont know of already.

I'd love to know what Mascherano thinks at the moment though. ''Me? Staying?''
