Told everyone about these in early june, they have taken the glass away from the front and added a balconey.
cost over 100 grand each and have done 29 out of the 30 boxes, leaveing the big one under the t.v. one.
They look very good but will cost you 60 grand a season and have to be taken out for 3 seasons,so any takers out there.
Oh yeah btw there is a waiting list for these aswell.

£100k cost,  £60k per season and have to have it for 3, returning a profit of £80k!  So it's going to be at least 2 years before they get their money back.  I'm guessing there must be an alternate revenue stream from this boxes on non match days.  If not is it worth re-building these for such a low return if a new stadium is imminent once new owners have been found?
Makes you wonder about the whole "investors must have money to build a stadium" thing.

or people are paying £180k up front? and its just a fairly easy way to increase profits in the short term

But it's not as simple as that as about £50k of that £60k was already being earned by the club.  So it's £10k a year more for £100k per box investment.

Why would they do this in that case ?   It makes little sense.

seems you can hold of the boxes on a game by game basis - I didn't realise people (or the club) sub them out:-

Why would they do this in that case ?   It makes little sense.

Loads of reasons - it could be that the club were meeting resistance to renewals so the £100K would be a reasonable amount to spend on a largely capital project (say 75K structural works and 25K cosmetic) to ensure the customers are happy. Also people spend more if the environment is better so match day revenues will probably increase. Tim would know better than me but building works would usually be written off over a longer period than redecorations which would be done every 3-5 years and would would probably be covered by a maintenance budget anyway.

It's difficult to say without seeing the figures and the business case.

Is it just me or is £100k for adding a balcony a lot?!  You could build a whole house for £100k. Balcony included. Over 29 boxes, thats £2.9 million. For adding a row of balconies. No wonder we have no money.

Like I say it depends on the breakdown but £100K isn't a lot. It'll be the balcony plus a new glazed screen, decorations and carpets, executive furniture, AV installation, Lutron lighting system, kitchenette and bar etc. Add on fees and vat and it soon adds up. You might be able to build a house for £100K but anyone who's got the money for an executive box will probably spend £30K on their kitchen and be used to first class lounges. A couple of DFS sofas and a B&Q sideboard won't cut it.

I was thinking I'd love a DFS sofa at the match. Then it hits me, like a bolt out of the blue! There not really aimed at the likes of me. Oh well, back to the wooden seat with the post in the way.

The way ticket prices are going, you could try and ask for a reduction if you bring your own seat. Might be a tad difficult to get it through the turnstiles though.

Iv'e been told by a girl in work who works in the boxes, it's becuase they can draw the blinds and anyone who wants a quick pint in game can do so without getting the club into trouble.

As it stands it's a complete no no.

Yes. I walked past one of their stores and people on iphones walking past had no idea it was the big league for expensive phones.

Anyway, anyone have photos of the new boxes?
Curious as to how they will look.

When I read 'balcony' I immediately think of Maradona watching those games in Argentina hanging over the balcony looking at the fans below.
