Hopefully he proves me wrong, but I don't think he's that good a player and I'm certainly concerned by the particularly bad knee injury he had.  I also think he's been massively overhyped this summer, simply by not playing in most of the England games where they were absolute shit his stock has risen by default.

Like I say, hope I'm wrong, but I just don't think he'll be anywhere as influential in our play as it seems a lot are making out.

Agree with that you say. If as a club, we are in dire straights, the fact that we can still get someone like Cole in, with no CL football either, in the financially uncertain position we are in, is at least a tiny ray of light that shows that no matter what the clubs owners do, we can still be a draw for top players.

But other will simply focus on the negatives and turn this into one too, in whichever way they can. Like I say, dare have the opinion that it's a little bit of good news, just a LITTLE bit, and you're a clueless fuckwit who doesn't see the big picture.

Considering the shit we are in as a club, the likes of this signing I didn't think was possible, so delighted. And credit must go to Cole for forgoing the Champions League, although people will say only for more money, but I genuinely think he's joined because he wants first team football.

Nice to see we are still a draw despite what the twats in charge get up to. Welcome Joe, and nice one Roy for getting him.

Yup. Also remember Joe Cole has first hand experience of the roar and passion of Anfield on THOSE nights - I am quite sure this has been a major part of the attraction. The board did not make this signing attractive... the Liverpool supporters who lit the world on those very special nights did.

Assuming that Joe's agent is not a complete dummy and that seems unlikely.

Either we've offered him more money than anyone else,also seems unlikely given the state of our finances.

Or someone has managed to convince him that there is about to be an upturn in the fortunes of the club.

He hasn't left London for nothing!

Not convinced about Babel, and left back needs sorting. But yeah, with Maxi competing with both Kuyt and Cole (all three able to play on either side), and Aquilani to compete with Lucas and Gerrard. Jovanovic perhaps up front with Torres, or as his sub. Youth players like Pacheco, Ngog and Shelvy to come in as subs. Doesn't look too bad right now...

Although I have not been that convinced by Cole and kind of agree with L6 Red about the worries of him being another Kewell, I do think he has a much better attitude than Kewell so it should be a more productive signing.
