all this riera hatred makes me laugh.

ok the sinking ship comment on radio was bad but its what most have been saying on rawk anyway, should we sell all those aswell?

i think its a new season, new manager we should give the guy another chance and see if he can take it

No its not

as a Liverpool player who is paid to act professionally and do his best for the club he should have kept his mouth shut, knuckled down and pulled his finger out of his arse

instead he played shite then came out slagging off the club right before a very important game! he didnt give a fuck about anyone but himself

Riera is a prick and can fuck off

i dont disagree with the part about riera being a prick who should have kept his gob shut.

just think that we need every player we have at the moment so really we should at least give him another season to prove he wants to stay,if he starts talking or playing shite then we should sell.

but surley every player deserves a second chance no?

Of that list, I would play:

                              Gulasci
Darby          Kelly              Ayala             Insua
                    Lucas        Shelvey
 Amoo                 Aquilani            Jovanovic
                            Ngog

And then at half time

                                Cavalieri
Degen         Krygiakos         Irwin        Insua
     Ince        Aquilani       Palsson    Riera
                    Dalle Valle   Eccleston

I guess...

I would rather have a youngster in the team who gives 100% every game than someone who runs to the press when they arent getting a game

Riera is a shithouse and not the sort of player we need at a time like this

he is exactly the sort of player we need at this moment.

player with first team experience who is an international, who before he fell out with rafa and had a sulk was a very good player for us.

as for rather having a youngster given a chance, what if said youngster wasnt up to first team quality when given chance?

the amount of abuse the kid would get would destroy his career, fuck sake the amount of abuse that lucas and kuyt get on here im surprised they still want to play for us

As am I, I wouldn't ask questions if I was not interested.

And for the record I tried joining numerous times over the years and always had problems getting authorized. Glad those in charge finally got their act together.  ;D

There is nothing to indicate the Spaniard Riera did not have a good attitude to training. That is an assumption.

new manager, perhaps new energy around training ground.  as long as roy gets them excited about playing for liverpool football club and not thinking they're on a submarine headed for the bottom of the ocean i'm all good.  sometimes a new method breathes new or undiscovered life into players.  let's be just a touch patient.

depressing isnt it

devastating - the most depressing thing is that I knew it would happen, as did others, but some just won't believe whats going on around them

how can roy even have assessed any player properly in the little time he has had with them this training camp is probably the time to do it then leaves 6 weeks or so to sort out transfers instead cecil is trying to get rid of whoever is really wanted by clubs(to get some cash in) and worry about finding homes for the deadwood later

There is nothing to indicate the Spaniard Riera did not have a good attitude to training. That is an assumption.

how the hell are you still around here? do you ever refer to anyone without including their race or country of origin before their name? does it fucking matter if someone is a semite or a spaniard etc

I remember when eveyone latched onto the 'sinking ship' media spin and used it to hang Riera. I post this in light of the possibility that he may be given a second chance at the club.

Here's (the best translation i could pice together of) what he said:

"When the coach says nothing to you and you are well, with no physical problems and training well, you cannot help but think it must be something personal. If I am doing things badly and you are my boss and you value me, you are going to tell me what I have to do to get back playing. That is what hurts me. It is a lack of tact."

“It seems strange that being Spanish there should be a problem with communication.”

“I have been here two years and he has never sorted out a situation with a player by talking to him. He thinks that it is him in charge and he is deaf to everything else. The dialogue is practically zero.”

“This year has been difficult, the team are not doing well and there are no changes. When you see that the ship is sinking and you don’t change anything it's a little frustrating because you see that you can help.”

"I've been here two years and I know how he (Benitez) is. He's never sorted out a situation with a player by talking with him. He thinks he's in charge and everything else falls on deaf ears. His dialogue with the players is practically nil."

"I would like to be here for the rest of my career, but players live to play."

"My objective is to go to the World Cup and for this I have to play. Right now the only market open is the Russian one, I have offers from two teams and, looking at my situation, that has made me reflect a lot."

I suppose it was just an unbelievable coincidence that Alonso whinged about the exchange rate and the 50% tax rate just before he left. Yossi signed a deal in July 2009 and was whinging about it a fortnight later.

Alonso got a massive pay rise when he went to Madrid and Yossi is being paid mega bucks to get splinters in his arse on the Chelsea bench.

Liverpool pay with a few exceptions well below the market value in wages, that is why players all of a sudden fall out with the manager.
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

It was just a coincidence that his agent was in Russia at the time trying to get him a big money move, let me remember what happened oh yes I forgot the fella who lived to play couldn't agree personal terms. Strange that.

I am just so happy the break is almost over.  Bring on Saturday and come on you redkids!  Only suprise in this squad (to me at least) is no Robinson.  We've got three rb's in Degen, Darby and Kelly.  But only one lb who's rumored to be off soon.  With Mavinga off being French (and a better cb anyway), I'd have thought we'd want a second on the bus.  I know Kelly is versatile, but has he ever played on the left?
