Spurs have been outspending us consistently the past 4-5 years in terms of overall as well as net spending.
We sit here and have a whole debate whether 10m is an outrageeous price for a talented lad, or whether Negredo's 17m price tag is fair. With this mentality we'll never be in the Top 4 again, let alone challenging for any trophies.
But we have to spend wisely now ... each bad transfer hurts us very badly. £17m for Negredo is being debated because that's a lot of money for a half decent centre forward. Each time we have to ask ourselves whether that player we are signing would get into the City, Arsenal, United or Chelsea team. If they wouldn't, then they're not worth signing. That's why seeing the departures of players like Masch, Alonso, Arbeloa and Hyypia have been so devastating. Every single one of those players would have got into the aforementioned teams. Would Lucas, Meireles, Johnson or Skrtel. All good players, but you get my drift. This team has been downgraded over the last few years.
But I'm positive if we keep the faith, spend wisely, trust Kenny to introduce a proper mentality back into the team, then we will be on an upward curve soon enough. We just need wins now.
