I love the Red Sox, but ESPN just reported he's had a "massive heart attack and listed in extremely critical condition".

In a Tampa, FL Hospital

Just seen he's died.  Rest in Peace Mr. Steinbrenner, the Yankees would be nothing if not for you.

Well I dont like the man at all, but cant really wish death upon anyone - so hopefully he pulls through...

Yeah, never been a fan of him or what he's done with the Yankees, but he definitely has my respect.  Don't know of any Owners in the Hall of Fame, but he deserves to be there for sure.

Was just coming to post this.

Tragic for any Yankee fan. He has been just as important as any player since his tenure with us...an owner that put everything into making his team win.

Huge loss and thoughts are with his family. Hal will keep his legacy alive with his day to day running of us now.

It's the great Larry David playing him, btw. But yea, massive loss for any Yankee fan. The man changed baseball and professional sports in America. Steibrenner was a true American legend, as big as Babe Ruth, Branch Rickey, or anyone else to play or have anything to do with baseball.

Steinbrenner didn't just represent the Yankees, he represented New York. Since the Yankees won their first championship with him in 1977, he has owned New York City and they didn't just call him "The Boss" for no reason.
