there was that story about when the Munich survivors were doing a press conference in one room and Rooney in another for sky also about Munich, he was walking around swearing and kicking off cos he was told to arrive at a certain time and rooneys interview had overran.

obviously you also have all the falling over he does, which is irritating

on the flip side he is a great footballer and has a great body

Compare your feelings for him with your feelings for Ryan Giggs (press hyperbole and ridiculous awards aside). Giggs played at the highest level for the Mancs for an awful lot longer than Ronaldo. The visceral loathing for him is not because of what he has done for the Mancs - it is because he a deeply unpleasant self-centred person, who happened to play for the Mancs.

In the warm-up he actually spotted himself on the big screen and then proceeded to look at himself for the next 30 seconds, surely knowing that he was being seen by millions .... looking at himself. The boy is up himself beyond belief.

The way he's taking free-kicks sums him up and is a good example why I can't stand the guy. Everything is about him and everything is one big show for the camera. Missed a shot? Wait for the camera to pick you up, shake your head and look up into the sky. About to take a free-kick? Put down the ball, take three steps back and stay in a John-Wayne-like position with your head slightly tilted to signal that all the pressure is on you and you're the only one who can deal with it.

He's a very good footballer and you don't go scoring about a gazillion goals every season without being one. However, he is a massive, massive c*nt and to me he personifies everything that's wrong with modern commercialised football. Look at players like Messi, Nando or Villa. They're easily in Plastic Boy's class, but they're miles ahead of him as far as staying on the ground and staying a "normal" guy is concerned...
