idea dont know how practical it would be but when I was standing aroun d at the rally looking around I couldn't help but notice all the statues - its wellington on the column isn't it ? - shocking what you dont know about your home time aint it - looking over at Waterloo?

anyway I thought to meself what about a banner or picture of every one of those mothers? - Liver buildings, Victoria monument
- you could extend it to Penny Lane, The cavern - every well known and not so well known land mark in our City?

Excellent idea.

Certainly the likes of Penny Lane, The cavern, the gates of Strawberry Field etc.  In fact the places that are more widely recognised around the world.

I might try and get a couple, whilst I'm out and about in the city, this week.

aye but could you arrange for the council or whoever to get access to these statues - could we get somebody up Wellington's column, on the balcony of the town hall , on the weather map (is it still there?) in the albert dock, on the roof of the Liver Buildings (top gear did I believe) - may need insurance, h&s guys etc - or would this be too much like fathers for justice?

and of course dont underestimate how fucking ludicrous some of my ideas can be :)

Cost, H&S, the fact that these people don't want you on these places. The amount of things we had to do for today (particularly Graham) to ensure St. George's Hall and the council were happy with everything was immense (and rightly so).

It's not about us planning staged shots everywhere though, its about everyone participating. So if you want one of those places then ask in the Liverbuilding if you can go to the roof or wherever.

I thought it was about raising awareness? and if having  a picture of your lovely mug on top of the liver building raises awareness - staged or not then thats a good thing isn't it? Maybe its something the union would want to do - maybe if somebody else does it or gets injured trying it, the union would get grief anyway -it was just a suggestion..............

I've had 10 hours in the car getting to the rally and back so plenty of time to think
Thats why I asked about fathers for justice - sometimes it can be the wrong message.

I would ask in the liver building but I live 250 miles away they may not hear me from here

'tis indeed a great picture. I took a very boring picture of me in front room. However, I am going to St Kilda on Friday night for a gig at The Espy (Mark Lanegan). Maybe I can get a picture outside Luna Park funfair with that insane clown face while I'm there!

Maybe I can also get Mark "Prince of Darkness" Lanegan to hold one up!! ;D ;)

All I'm saying is, its a bit pointless about the point of this campaign if we stage everyone and its the same lads in all of them. It is about expressing yourself and showing off where you live. Go to somewhere in a building of significance close to you, in your house, down at your supporters club or wherever.

We have loads from Thailand there already, but still loads of great buildings in Liverpool there for people to do as well.

Nope the point of the campaign is to get people involved - if that needs a bit of priming with some shots on various  Liverpool monuments then great - it may just spark someone else to do something similar - it may catch somebodies imagination to say - you know what they are right I'm going to do it - it may spark someone to say you know what I'm going to get one doen in sefton park by peter pan or cupid or whoever teh hel that statue ir - or next to the Old Swan pub or the glass house - or someone else to say you know what - I'm going to organise it for every pub in Liverpool -or I'm going to sponsor me local pub team with the SOS or save lfc logo

why does it need to be the same lads - each committe member a different locale but even if it was - that's be a challenge in itself - the most bizarre spot or the most spots or the greatest distance, the biggest effort - The north pole would be decent, afghanistan would be another, a mersey ferry, Goodison park, Aintree all worth having, every district of Liverpool

a update page showing where in the world its been done, where in the country , where in the city - and it'll encourage others to fill in the blanks

the idea is about building community isn't it? sometimes it needs a bit of prompting and  a bit of imagination to encourage it

That's what people are doing now with various great locations and innovative pictures.

As for use of SOS logo for sponsorship that has to be passed by the committee.

Looking into world map for it all. Ideally it would be better if it could be done automatically rather than manually.

Lars Ohly wants to see new and proper owners for Liverpool F.C - Now!

Lars Ohly, the chairman of Vänsterpartiet (Sweden's Party of the Left), and a big Liverpool F.C fan. Took a moment before his speech to the nation at Almedalen, to speak to Josephine Freje Simonsson about the current situation at his beloved football club.

When asked about the current owners -  "Tom and George will ALWAYS walk alone! I'm very disappointed with them. They did not support Benitez (the former Manager), and failed to give him the right conditions needed in which to do his job"

When talking about Benitez - "I thought he was great. I was never one of the people who wanted to see him go".

On the future for the club - "I want to see new and proper owners - now".

Lars Ohly is currently running for government in the upcoming Swedish Elections.

No, I wrote it based on quotes that my girlfriend (journalist) gave me after talking to him earlier. As I understand he is aware (and approves) of SOS, but I think his position prevents him from becoming a member. I'm sure that you can use the quotes (it was my intention), but if you could hold back until my girlfriend has approved them. She gave me her translation, and I've tweaked them ever so slightly so that they would read better. If you want I'll send/pm you what she gave me, also with my interpretation. She'll also give Joackim/Minore (SOS Sweden) the exact quotes in Swedish when she gets a chance. She's at the Swedish political conference all of this week, and we're hoping to get some more stuff like this with other Swedish celebrity/famous reds.

It's a pain. I've got all the pictures coming to my gmail account which I never use which is better as hotmail is being a pain with when you click reply not including the old message all the time, but everything goes through it so don't want to swap.

Anyway, back on topic. Who is taking pictures then?

Quote
THE campaign to force Liverpool FC’s American co-owners out of Anfield has gone global.

Supporters determined to drive out Tom Hicks and George Gillett have taken their protest message worldwide.

These pictures show how the strength of feeling against them is now being felt at home and abroad.

Reds are being photographed in some of the world’s most famous locations while brandishing flyers which read: “Tom and George, Not Welcome Anywhere.”

It is the brainchild of fans union Spirit of Shankly (SOS) who are at the forefront of a concerted project to get rid of Hicks and Gillett.

Kopites living around the world have enthusiastically embraced the idea along with Liverpudlians on holiday this summer.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge, Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the Empire State Building in New York and the home of Elvis in Graceland, Memphis, are just some of the locations featured in the campaign.

Today SOS spokesman James McKenna said they were delighted with how the project had captured people’s imagination.

He told the ECHO: “Liverpool fans are everywhere and they have shown massive support towards this over the last couple of weeks.

“We have been inundated with emails and promises of further pictures at some of the world’s most recognisable landmarks.”

It comes after up to 2,000 Liverpool fans attended an Independence Rally outside St George’s Hall on Sunday.

Hicks and Gillett have come under fire after loading huge levels of debt on Liverpool and failing to deliver their promise of building a new stadium.

They were recently labelled “asset-strippers” in the House of Commons by Walton MP Steve Rotheram.

Pictures of some of them in today's Echo as well.
