Lots of murky stuff this weight gaining malarky, guess it depends on the person.
I'm 21, 5ft 10 and weigh 76kg.
I want to put on muscle, mainly on my chest, arms and shoulders. I also have a slight gut, nothing massive but I want to shift it. I guess if I dirty bulk then I will gain muscle, but make the belly worse. I agree with you pep, I see no point in being fat for most of the year and only being where you want to be for a small window of the year.
Generally, I try to eat healthily and I dont drink that much. Try and drink as much water as possible. Usually I have some toast with poached eggs for breakfast, then a sandwich at lunch, tuna or chicken. If not, I have some pate and toast. (brown bread) I snack on bananas, yoghurts, peanuts and sometimes chicken. For tea I usually have a White meat like pork or chicken, or steak with potatoes and veg. Then I have some more fruit or yoghurt later on.
I work out 3 days a week, one day on, one day off, then rest saturday and Sunday. Trying to workout all the main muscles and work them hard. Tried the 5x5 or if I don't have enough time I do a few heavy sets right to failure.
I've had loads of great advice from the fitness thread off pepereina, and I'm already noticing results on my arms. Just wanted to know if there's anything I'm doing wrong. Could I shift my gut and still get decent gains on my arms, or should I build my muscles more before hitting it hard? I don't do any cardio at the moment but could work it in easily. If I were to shift my gut, would it be as easy to gain muscle whilst keeping my stomach flat and not gaining much fat.
Thanks for any advice, I can post my workout too if that helps. See if I'm doing the right stuff.
