In case you hadn't noticed, they club is up for sale, so they're going!
So we just keep shtum until they're gone?
Don't be daft lad. We keep pushing till they cross the Rio Grande.
Way back, about 10 stone ago, I used to play football for a Mexican team, Nosotros (Us). One of the first things the lad's asked me about was the San Patricio's. I'd never heard of them, but they soon educated me on them. And, considering our own Irish heritage, I love the idea. Not many would understand why the song was being sung (Even some of our own supporters as to why we was even singing about chasing Yanks, judging by the last comment) but I like it meself....
And before anyone calls me anti-American... I lived there for many years. I like America and American people. In fact, I like them that much, I even made one. She still lives there and I visit her as often as I can.
PS...
In the war between Chile and Peru/Bolivia, many Irish joined with the Chileans. One San Patricio (Can't think of his name off the top of my head. It maybe Newell (as in Newell Old Boys) went on to become President of Chile. And his best mate, a Scouser, became the Admiral of the Chilean navy. Look through South American football, you'll find loads of teams with English/Irish names... even Everton. And considering what Hicks done in Brazil, why not? I think it would be sort of apt meself....
And eh, a bit of Paddy Marachi on the Kop might just wake the fucker up.
