What makes a good forward?
I think there's a certain mannerism with top strikers, not to mention key assets like pace and composure, and power, to mention a few.
Can you imagine Mascherano playing as our lone striker? Imagine Torres closing defenders down, now imagine Masch doing the same thing, just busting a gut to make defenders panic and clear it. He's brave, he'd put his body on the line to get on the end of a cross, he's powerful, and he's not got a bad touch.
I don't think Gerrard is intense enough to play up-top, he'd need to be giving 100% for 90 minutes and I just haven't seen that from him in recent seasons, he tends to drift in and out of games. However, he's tall, has a great strike on him, can hold a ball up, has a great leap on him, and is brave.
Would be interesting to see it happen, but it won't...just asking people to consider their views on what MAKES a good striker 'good'.
