Came down to making 2 bad mistakes in defense. Agger being out of position for the 1st goal penalty.....and then Park being allowed to waltz in to our box and score from point blank range.

Thats all it takes against title chasers...2 mistakes, 2 goals and zero points for us. But we have plenty of games remaining and we can still make 4th spot.

Webb might have been awful, and he was, and Fletcher should have walked, but that performance IMO is indicative of our entire season.
One fucking effort on target, containment the order of the day....usual shit...we have to wait til we're behind to see the creativity, and it's always too late...even at that, Rafa waited nearly 15 minutes after the second goal to make a change.
We can't blame Webb for the fact that played poor...he obviously didn't help...but we still played poor.

The peno decision was a joke but if that is what Rafa's faithful followers are willing to accept as a Liverpool performance, then we'll agree to differ.
I don't consider myself any better or worse than any Liverpool fan but I will say, hand on heart, my faith in Rafa is gone.
To say we would have won only for Webb is clutching at straws when the hard facts are staring us in the face.

We showed no fight for todays games....Just a poor display in the 2nd half dont think vds even had a save to make in the 2nd half

Thought were not as bad as people make out. Gerrard had a particularly bad game unfortunately. Utd sat far deeper than they did last season to prevent Torres exploiting them on the counter but we were very wasteful in possession. Valencia had the making of Insua this time round and always took him from the outside.

To be honest that was another shambolic display, after Torres scored we reverted back to our usual defensive and negative ways. Very disappointed by the lack of passion. Its happened far too much this season and something has gotta change before next season. Gerrard was fucking awful as well...

Ref's have generally give us fuck all all season.

This season is feeling like a watershed to me, and im just praying we find ourselves in a better place next year.

While Webb was god awful, the players should be held accountable. Once again we sat back and tried to not give up a goal instead of trying to score one. Once Torres scored we should have kept on it and tried to make it 2. Webb would have had fewer chances to screw us over if we had kept the ball in our possession. Possession was 55-45 to the Mancs. Sums it all up really.

Every game is now a must win.

Done our usual concede and then feel sorry for ourselves for the rest of the game act. 10th league defeat now. Too many players who don't seem be bothered about losing any more. Where is the professional pride? There wasn't any in that 2nd half and it's been absent for majority of the season (especially away from home). The only players who seemed bothered were Torres and Reina. They are fantastic players but they can't win the game's by themselves.

don't think this dickhead helped at all, everytime we got the ball somehow we'd concede freekicks, every tackle any of our players put in resulted in freekicks, yet theres maxi getting booted in the head and torres constantly being elbowed. I agree Webb made calls which favoured the mancs, although I think the pen was a pen - if Masch was going to foul him he should've made sure he brought him down outside the box.

However the focus in the commentary was totally on the ref re snidey comments. Bit embarrassing really. Obviously this was expected from Andy@Allerton, but little reference was made to our complete lack of creativity or apparent effort, esp in the second half. Or the time taken to attempt to change it. UTD aren't a great side but we just sit back and invite them on which has happened way too often this season.

Anyway we got what we deserved, fuck all. United wanted it more, which is disappointing as this was the one opportunity to put a dent in their run to 19 and our push for 4th.

Ah well, at least the season is near over.

mistakes lost us the game, unbelievable how a litte south korean can create such havoc in our defence, beat our cb's in the air on several occations..no penalty for me, but what else to expect when a neo-nazi lookalike has the whistle..should've been twoall but for torres's mistake(s) aswell

Shit game. We were average. Mancs were too. Non penalty let them get back into the game and then shite defending allowed Park to score the winner. Webb was awful and gave nearly everything their way but that was to be expected.

3 matches in 7 days really took a toll on us. Looked lethargic througout the game. Torres should have buried the chances that were given to him. Gerrard was shite. Lucas and Masch did well throughout.

Was surprised at Rafa taking out Kuyt and Lucas though. Shows signs that he's finally getting attacking.

Anyway, this will not keep us down, we will keep on fighting and get the fourth spot.

The penalty decision btw, was one of the only things in the game I thought Webb got right - although it was obviously looked for, it's one of those situations as an opposition player you can't give them the excuse to go down. Mascherano was naive.

Yes, the team were just about an inch short of dire today, but I feel that if we'd lost to a team that had played fairly over the 90+ minutes, it might have been a little easier to bear.

Howard Webb is a disgrace to football referees everywhere; not once did I get a sense of fairness or impartiality from him. One or two decision not going our way was to be expected, but his ignorance of fouls from that shower of shite was unbelievable.

I guess Rafa is envious on the way United controlled the game after they took the lead. That is exactly what we would have tried to do in the same position.

Ref was poor but definitely not the reason we lost. They didn't play particularly well, and when we went 2-1 down we didn't show any fight or will to win. Depressing.

Just a couple of points about todays game, we started well and were in control, we faded badly in the last half an hour but if you consider we had 3 games in 5 and a half days, not too shaby.

And one last point, if I was as bad at my job as Howard Webb is at his, I would be in prison.

I agree. Yes, penalty was soft and decisions didn't really go our way, but we weren't good enough. No sense of urgency. Can't pick a player who played well, other than Reina.

I'm not sure if we're able to qualify for Champions League next season, even though I will not give up hoping till it's mathematically impossible to do so. I'm concerned about what the future of the club entails though. Will we still be attractive to investors, new players if we're going to play in the Europa League next season? If Rafa quits/is sacked, can we find a manager with equal or more quality?
