If Argentina win the World Cup, he'll be seen as being better than Maradona. He's that good.

Agree. If he can have a good world cup he truly has to be compared with the likes of Pele, Best, Puskas, Eusebio, Maradona, Platini and Zidane!

I don't know if this sounds a bit gay (I mean 'gay' in the colloquial sense here) but the other day one of the Spanish papers described him as 'infinity'. Apt. Because every time you try and understand it, it gives you a proper head fuck.

I've seen him live once. He was shite. I need to see him again when he's playing well.
Useless, I don't see what all the fuss is about :P

Made it look so so easy today, always a pleasure to see such a great player

Bad luck mate. You could have done fuck all about it. Now win the bastard league.

I'll see him live in August with Argentina. Hopefully he's a World Cup winner by then!

Fuck me,what a player,in my opinion when he hits his peak around 26/27(hopefully avoiding injuries etc)he will go down as the best player of all time.Better than Pele, better than Maradona. He is an absoloute genius.

By the time he's 27, at this rate I expect him to be levitating the ball onto the goal line by mere thought alone ... and then pushing it over the line with his tongue.

he would  survive in premier league, he gets plenty of kicks now, remember last season where madrid tried to kick him out of the game, hell he even got 6 kicks in that run he made in the 2nd half where he went past 4/5 of them.
Would sacrifice Fordy in a sacred Mayan ritual to have him as the next Liverpool manager

He just has to stay fit and win a World Cup with Argentina; before he is 24 he could already be thought of as the Best Club player anyone has ever seen.

Imagine you are Barcelona and he you have this fella in your team, and he's just 22 years old, fuck me.

Messi's got nothing on Robbie Fowler.

His hat-trick tonight took 21 minutes; Robbie would only have needed four and a half.

That`s The End Of That Argument, Then...

Back in February when Wayne Rooney had scored twice in Milan, the Daily Mail 'experts' all created their list of the best players in the world. Toppermost of the poppermost in most lists was Englishman Wayne Rooney - hardly surprising among those who work for a newspaper that blames all Britain's ills on asylum seekers, single parents and homosexuals.

Mind you, this was the newspaper that used the typically ignorant headline 'The best players of the world (and Xavi): Ronaldo crowned king of football' only last year. Yes, the Xavi who had been the heartbeat of a Spain side recently crowned champions of Europe. Yes, possibly the best central midfielder in the world.

We would like to see those same 'experts' make their lists again as Lionel Messi produces the kind of 'ridiculous' (Thierry Henry's word of choice) form that cannot simply be ignored on the grounds that he's suspiciously small, foreign-looking and for some inexplicable reason shows no interest in playing in glorious Blighty.

We have all seen those Messi v Rooney newspaper graphics this season in which British sports journalists cherry-pick statistics that prove 'our Wayne' is the best player in the world. Look at him - he's so big and strong and he scores more headers than that little Argie fella, that's for sure.

Sod the statistics (they mostly fall in favour of Messi anyway) and sod the superlatives - if you watched him against Stuttgart, or Valencia, or Real Zaragoza or now Arsenal, there's no point insulting your intelligence by trying to capture his talent in mere words.

He's simply the best player of his generation - that's all you need to know. Frankly, if you still think Rooney is a better footballer, you're either a member of the Rooney family or some kind of xenophobic revisionist who will always favour a pasty face.

The rest of us - including Arsenal fans who should feel no shame in defeat - cannot help but admire him. The best footballer in the world and he doesn't even appear to be a c**k? Bonus.

Pffffffffffffffffffffft!

Ronaldo's still bettah..

Jokes aside, he probably is...
What Messi does in La Liga, he can't do in EPL.
Ronaldo does well in both EPL and La Liga.
EPL>La Liga
Since 2005-present, there has always been an English team in CL finals.
To beat Barcelona, you need discipline. Arsenal don't have that.
We do, Man Utd does, Chelsea as well, and that's why we've beat Barcelona last time we met, and Chelsea has gotten the better of them over the past few years, dispite last season's result.
I'd rather have Torres over Messi if I'm facing the likes of Inter and Chelsea.
I firmly believe he would not be able to cope with the physicality of the EPL, Ronaldo is proven over here.
Messi's record vs English opposition is poor.
Arsenal, being the least English team of all, just happened to be the victim of his brilliance, but Ronaldo has stripped Arsenal in similar fashion as well.

He's still very young, and has plenty of time to improve of course.
Bare in mind, the midfield of Barca makes things very easy for Messi.
Great player no doubt, but I'd have Ronaldo over him.
