Don't think i've met many really famous people.

I've met a few politicians:

Peter Mandelson - seemed nice enough
Gordon Brown - you can tell he isn't a people person, but he made a decent effort at being friendly
David Miliband - a bit slimey and very opportunistic
Alistair Darling - lovely guy with a brilliant sense of humour
Ed Miliband - seemed quite shy/reserved
Caroline Flint - very friendly and can be brutally honest
George Gideon Oliver Osborne, son of Sir Peter Osborne, 17th Baronet of Ballentaylor and Ballylemon and Felicity Alexandra Loxton-Peacock, educated at St. Pauls and Magdalene College, Oxford - absolute twat

'Normal' people include:

Derren Brown - met him after a show earlier this year and he made a point of staying to sign everyone's tickets, books, etc. He did personal dedications for everyone and asked opinions on the show, theatre layout, etc
Stewart Lee - seemed a sound bloke - told me not to buy most of his DVDs direct from him as they'd be cheaper on Amazon

Yeah, you only met the Prime Minister and party heads. Pretty obscure blokes.  ;)

It's funny the bean counter is more extroverted than the politicians.

At a wedding recently and David Cameron was there - my cousin was marrying his sister-in-law. So basically I spent the day at the same party as him which is a really interesting thing to do whether you like him or not.

DISCLAIMER: Don't like his politics.

I decided to speak to him - I'm a Politics teacher so that was my opening line (he was stood next to me while smoking a fat cigar when I approached him).

He genuinely couldn't have been nicer, asking me what I was teaching the students and we chatted about constitutional reform for about 10 minutes - may sound dull but when you're talking to the PM it's a buzz and it was a topic we both kew a bit about so it heled the conversation to flow. I also told him his party had been ery cynical over the AV+ propaganda, and he accepted it!

What struck me most was that he was a very good politician who was always on the job. He could have quite legitimately shaken my hand and then backed away, but he didn't. He's so well trained at meeting people that he was good at it, if that makes sense.

I was watching him during the wedding and he was very much enjoying himself - even doing a bit of a jive with a younger girl on the dancefloor. I suppose he's human. :P

The wedding actually got into the local press: http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/9080844.Prime_Minister_attends_wedding_at__village_church/?ref=mr

Met Slash yesterday at a signing event. I'm not too sure what to make of him - apparently he'd thrown a hissy fit beforehand and he seemed in a bad mood.

when the Walkers advert was recorded in Rochester; there was a scene recorded in a field near where i live so my mate and i (both just 16) investigated what was going on. We then met Gary Linekar - he seemed okay but we got the impression that he thought he would be better talking to people older than us :L

Terry, meant to ask you this ages ago.
Why was McCartney a tool, second time you met?

Only just spotted this mate.

He was with Heather one leg at the time and he was in the middle of a tour, so when we started to talk to him he was answering us in sign language and his thumbs up type thing.
Anyway, a mate of mine was told by the one legged one that he was in the middle of a tour and couldn't speak to us as it might risk his voice for the rest of the tour.
I could blame her for that but I reckon he was the one who was being a bellend.

Boy George in 1983 at Campden Palace, at first thought what the fuck is that
but had a good chat with him.
He was getting ready to do a live show for Capitol Radio that night.
Best laugh was comparing nail varnish and lipstick with my mate`s wife.

As a kid, sometimes  I used to play with Declan McManus during school holidays.
He stayed with his grand-parents up the road from us.
His father was always immaculate, his mother was a tall gorgeous blonde,
most people might know him as Elvis Costello.

Lewis Collins used to live across the road from us, "star" of the Professionals
but a wanker.

I was once in a lift with Julian Clary. Nothing like that happened in case any of you are wondering.
"My coach told me to warm up just before the break. He told me I was going to take care of Kaka. I didn't think it was possible to turn things around but in the dressing room at halftime Rafa Benitez was calm - "We are Liverpool FC, we have so many fans, we are not going to be slaughtered. If we can score a goal quickly we push on from there.""

Mainly scouse musicians who you've all probably met anyway.

The La's (Power is sound, Lee's a bit tetchy, drummer was really sound)
Ian McCulloch (prick, full of his own self importance)
Ian McNabb (really, really nice guy and liked my song, so he's a legend in my eyes)
Pete Wylie (Pete's alright if a little bit away with the mixer)
Colin Verncombe (quiet and rather shy)
Henry Christian (too brief to gauge what he's like, he likes his charlie though)
Diggsy (was on a recording course with him in the late 80's, seemed sound enough)

Ian McNabb is one the nicest men you could and should ever wish to meet.
Pete Wylie the same.
I remember him telling me that he was going to be on Top Of The Pops (early 80's) in the next few months and the next thing you knew he was there, so fair play to him for that.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Peter "Digsy" Deary around 87 ish.
We used to do a bit of teaching, various different instruments and singing around Youth clubs etc, and entertaining.
Oh, and playing pool and getting pissed as well..

Great lad who had many laughs with..

We've probably bumped into one another over the years Terry. I was just out of school when i met Digsy, he seemed a lot older and more mature than me as a result we only spoke briefly but he seemed like a genuine, down to earth guy.

My mate Ged was in a band with Pete for a brief time and knows him a lot better than i do, seems a great guy, what i meant when i said "away with the mixer" is kinda typified by your comment re TOTP, Pete seems to be full of ideas and grand visions (nowt wrong with that of course) so his mind can occasionally wander.

Only met Ian McNabb briefly at a party, played him one of my songs and he said he really liked it, spoke for about half an hour, enough time for him to impress on me how much of a genuinely nice guy he is (christ he's played with Crazy Horse so i half expected him to be a bit standoffish), of all the scouse musicians i've met he was the one that stood out as a class above.

I feel like I've missed out on life.. I've often seen celebs out and about, but generally leave them to it, so as not to annoy them.

I suppose one claim to fame is that will go down badly on here is that I've stood in the same lift as Kelvin McKenzie...  :o

I worked at News International for about 5 years in the early 90's. I wasn't a journo, I was in IT there...

I also saw people like Danny Baker, Steve Punt and Bob Willis when I was there. I've also sat on a train next to William G Stewart (fifteen to one presenter) and I've spoken to John Parrott, Steven Hendry and Mark Williams who were having a curry in Sheffield..

Met Sir Paul in London after his wedding on Sunday. He is already upset with his new wife. Apparently, she is spending twice as much on shoes as the last one.

I was in Copenhagen airport late last night on the way back to Blighty when I spotted Neil Oliver, he off Coast and various history programmes etc, all alone and gazing up at departure board.

Went up to him and said "I just want to say I think your TV shows are superb.....but my wife thinks you should get your hair cut as you look like a big Jesse" (well not that last part though it was really tempting).

He was great with it, had a brief but friendly conversation then he thanked me and shook my hand. Seems a good guy, not up himself at all.

Then just minutes later I also walked past Gillian Anderson ie Sculley from X-Files (or someone her absolute spitting image) looking non descript but rather nice, but I didn't want to get arrested for harrassment....

Tell truth, the temptation to push him under a train was far to great to allow yourself near him.

Jenny Agutter is delighfully ditzy.  Robert Pugh is a nice, natural, down to earth fella.

I'm jealous of that one. Was it after one of his stand ups?

Most people in this world are tits. The fact they have an allegiance with Liverpool Football Club doesn't change that.

Jonjo Shelvey was sound, a bit shy but on the whole quite friendly. I had a 5 minute kickabout with him in the local park with my mate and his cousin and I think I was a credit to myself - was a while back tho so I might be a bit rusty for my LFC trial.

Robbie Keane was thick as pigshite and quite condescending for someone of such little intellect.

Steven Ward was sound but he had a massive nose and I kept staring at it.

Was almost run over by Colin Farrell outside the city zoo. We didn't talk like, but he said sorry and I waved so it has to count.

Have met Farrell once or twice when he's been in Dublin. Sound bloke.
Brian O Driscoll a fair few times too. As recently as a few hours ago. Seemed in bad form tonight. Normally sound.
Also, a collection of B-list Irish celebraties than I cant be arsed trying to remember.
I'm sure i'm missing someone good too..
