Very under-prepared for this one, it's come round way too quickly. Half my shit that I take with me on Euro Aways (including my warmest coat) is still in the wash stinking of fags from Bucharest.

Gotta leave in about 2 hours so I guess I'll have to make do with what I's got!

Have a good trip, see you out there.

why cant the club or anyone do anything? he even has a phone number on there for fuck sake. Outrageous

We all know the club won't play 'the numbers game' and it's fruitless ringing up/writing a letter to complain, because it just gets ignored, but can the SOS look into how the 1,051 tickets were distributed for this?

Getting the 0953 from St Pancreas into Lille at 1224.
On April 15th, 1989, 96 people went to watch their favourite team play and never came home. With families grieving, the S*n newspaper printed lies about the survivors, and has never apologised.

i forget which game it was now as all the info's at home but due to the postal strike they didn't want POT from one of them and i think it was Lyon? postal strikes got called off the week/few days before.

That's what i meant. They didn't ask for POT for THAT game (thought it was lyon) but for Lille they are.

So inconsistent and anybody that did have it would probably have thrown it away by the time this game went on sale.

I'm going to Lille tomorrow. I don't have a ticket or anyone who will come with me. But I've realised that it's easy to support the team at a Champions League final, when it's beating Man United at Anfield, Juventus in 2005 or Barcelona in 2001.

It's night's like tomorrow's that make Liverpool supporters what they are. And I want to be there (even though I won't get in) to show the players what it means to play for Liverpool. To show solidarity with other supporters. And to show that no matter how bad we are, I am a Liverpool fan. And if that means spending a day and a week's wages driving to France and back, that's what I will do.

I'm a bit drunk but that will actually mean something when I'm stood on my own in a French bar drinking orange juice as we go 2-0 down.

For anybody arriving by Eurostar on Thursday, leave Gare Lille Europe as follows:

Sortie (exit) marked:
Place F. Mitterrand
Gare Lille Flandres
Centre Ville
Acces E

This takes you across a foot-bridge and is a 4 min walk, along Avenue Le Corbusier, to Lille Flandres Station (LFS), where Metro Line 1 (Ligne yellow) goes to Quatre Canton.  Get off at Pont de Bois and it is, they say, a 14 min walk to LOSC Stadium.

The area around LFS seems to have a lot of bars and cafes/restaurants!

It is very cold during the day here, about 5C, and Thursday night in that stadium IS NOW FORECAST as 31F/ -1C.  :o

I've had one of my coldest experiences watching football in that (rubbish) stadium a couple of years ago (an abysmal 0-0 draw with PSG). Do wrap up warm.

I managed to miss my boat so arrived 20 minutes before kick-off . . . no time to even try to get a ticket. Found a bar off Grand Place showing the game only the Canal+ reception was terrible so I didn't see more than two passes before the TV cut out.

Found a much better bar for the second half, chatted to some Lille fans, declined dinner and went back to the car to drive back. Only I'd left my lights on. THat made me pleased I'd bought drinks for the Lille fans in the bar. All in all, about 100 minutes in Lille turned into a bit longer and I've got back in time for a couple of hours kip.

Worth it? Just about.

Awful game. Less said the better. But did just find some wine in a supermarket. Got 4 bottles for 5euro. Lille was alright to be fair. The hotel mister was very basic but thats all we needed. Clean too. The location was spot on near metros and the main square. All in all a good euro away.

Enjoyed Lille a lot, much cleaner than Bucharest for a start. Found the locals to be very friendly and the centre had quite a few bars. Enjoyed the drive over which made a change from the normal airoplane jaunt. All in all a good euro away apart from the result, although the police at the end brought problems on themselves by keeping that second gate shut after already keeping us in the away section for ages. Foreign fans come to Anfield and don't get treated like we do at euro aways.

Have you seen them locked in for ages, have batons and gas cannisters pointed in their direction, searched 3 times before they get in etc because I certainly havent?

Other than that, no I have never been in the away end on a European night at Anfield  :)

I've seen plenty of teams told that they're not going to be let out immediately, and yes, they are searched before going in to the ground. Perhaps not to the extent that British teams are abroad, but then the majority of continentals a) don't travel in as significant a number, or b) have a history of violence abroad which has clouded police thinking. Also the police tend not to be armed in this country, which isn't the case for a lot of European countries, so they'll naturally look more menacing.

Also, notwithstanding how we're treated on our European away ventures, I doubt you'd want to be an away fan in Italy, or a lot of Eastern Europe, at a domestic game.

I didnt go last night due to work and other things but the way we get treated at all away European games is shocking. In this day and age youd have though we would be treated much better. in Bucharest we were treated really well  youd have thought they would have been the worst given the warning given in the letter with the tickets. But for me games in Spain and France are always Policed havey handed.

on another note I like how channel Five claimed there were 1500 liverpool fans in the away end. Either they have got it wrong or Liverpool FC have lost (given to corporate) 450 tickets.
