Just a thought.... in 1998 Barcelona wanted rid of their President... The fans collectively used the white handkerchief to show their disgust.

I have noticed that the Man Utd fans have been using the Newton Heath colours in recent weeks.  I asked a lad in work about this and he said "Green and Gold until were sold."

I think this is a good idea but I think we should use our spanish influence and everytime we score a goal we should take a white CLEAN hankie an wave it as a symbol of YANKS OUT!

Just kidding, and it's something I thought about myself cos I actually think the green and gold idea is good as they stand out in the crowd so much. But I can't think of a similar thing we could use, and besides the SOS are working hard for exactly the same cause so I just support them.

In football I dont think it does, when you see the Spanish waving them you instantly know they're pissed off (usually with the manager). And thats my only problem; that it could be seen as an attack on Rafa and not the owners...

That association won't be gotten by most English people and certainly not by Americans..

The white hankie is what you wave when you want to surrender in battle. That's the overwhelming interpretation of the symbol in the UK.

That was my thought as well.  I even seem to vaguely recall an interview with Torres where he praised Liverpool fans and said it was a far cry from the "white handkerchiefs" in Spanish football.

Sat right next to Barca fans at the Nou Camp in 2002, was fuckin hilarious when they pulled out the white handkerchiefs although it was directed at the team and accompanied by whistling.

It just looks like waving the white flag so not sure its the right message.

Honestly mate.  How can you seriously think that the Kop would do this?  HOW??  Yes, it's fine to suggest that we should come up with something like the Green and Gold to get our feelings across, and there has been a thread about this in the Off the Pitch forum with people trying to come up with ideas, but white hankies?  Come on.

pisses me off how most the people on here can't seem to fuckin distinguish between the two twats running the club and a country of 306 million (306,108,000 (March 29, 2009))

before some dozy bastard jumps down my throat about it, no, im not a yank, grew up on walton vale.  However, I do live in the states now, and my wife and kids (also liverpool fans) ARE american - burning the flag will infuriate the entire country, and the two twats running the club won't even blink.
