Looked more comfortable as part of a 3 on the right hand side, means he gets less pressure on his aerial weakness....especially with Soto battering everything that moved

No-one happy that he actually played the ball on the ground even when the opportunity to hoof arose?
He actually won headers?
Provided space for the midfield by actually coming forward to recieve passes on the right.

Fuller came on to expose him, but he didnt do fuck all against him
Would sacrifice Fordy in a sacred Mayan ritual to have him as the next Liverpool manager

The second point pleases me most because Skrtel has become a bit soft this season, losing out on too many 1-1 battles. Was much more assured in the air since the Wolves game.

If his shot in the first half had gone in i'd have gone beserk. Loved seeing that even if his shot was miles away. Brave and positive. Shows he has the right mentality in his head and that's important at the other end too.
It's wonderful, it's marvellous, it's 3-3

Thought he was very good distribution-wise, as well as a much-improved defensive effort. Biiiig, big test on Sunday though.
You have posted literally nothing of substance to flame about.  Your "points", and I dread to call them that, were superficial and completely arbitrary.  Nothing you said could be argued against because nothing you said elaborated a position of any kind.

He played well as he did against Wolves and Fulham and United under Kenny.

Since the Wolves game he actually seems to be winning headers and seems to leave his shirt pulling in Royīs era.

Article from F365:

SKRTEL: TORRES COULD REGRET MOVE
Posted 02/02/11 17:39EmailPrintSave

Chelsea 4/7, Draw 5/2, Liverpool 5/1
Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel does not think the team will miss striker Fernando Torres having brought in Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez to replace him.

He even suggested the Spain international may regret his Ģ50million move to Chelsea, which was completed on Monday just after Ģ35million Carroll and Ģ22.8million Suarez had been confirmed as the Reds' new recruits.

"We have captured Suarez and Carroll. I believe these two will replace him and we will be at least as strong as we were with Nando," said the defender.

"We all feel sorry because he's a player of world class ability but, to be honest, it was no surprise.

"This season has not been going according to our wishes and expectations and that convinced him that it is the right time to move elsewhere. This is how he explained it to us.

"I wish him all the best but do not wish any success to Chelsea.

"Maybe Fernando will regret making this step sometime in the future."

Torres' debut could come against his former club at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Skrtel is confident, however, he can keep the 26-year-old quiet.

"It will be different because so far I have been playing against him only in training," the Slovakian told isport.blesk.cz.

"I hope he appears on the pitch and, since Chelsea wanted him so much, it is very likely that he will.

"I'm looking forward and firmly believe I won't let him score."

I think he's proven himself enough in the past to be allowed an average-sometimes-shitty season. I can see him as a decent backup in the future. He just recently (mid dec) turned 26 and can hopefully stay with us and improve for many years to come. I think he's decent in the air, hits more than he misses with his hoofs and can time a sliding tackle to perfection when on form.

Was his best match in a very long time. I think if we're going 4 at the back, we should stick with Soto & Agger personally, but if Skrtel can pick up his form he should be playing alongside Agger so we can allow the partnership to gel.

He's been terrible this season for me.  Very good tonight though.  He had more time on the ball because of the three at the back, more options to pass rather than hoof.

Good interview.
"I was pleased also with Peter Crouch. We have been talking to him, before and after his nose operation, to show more confidence with his heading.

"Now it seems to have worked. Lets say that if he has a few games without scoring again, maybe we should arrange to break his nose again."

biggest change for me since bodgson in him was seeing him closing down in the first half and actually running towards the opponents goal  if only he never panicked would probally have caused more harm for the stoker keeper

personally I think we should draw the line under any players pre-Kenny form.
Skrtel has been a quality player for us in the past, his form since he got that knock has been dire, but tonight showed much improved form and signs he will become the player of old.

What's this hoof business? Skrtel has been good with the ball at his feet since Kenny arrived, any past hoofing was obviously down to instruction.

That's what I'm thinking. Though I think he was hoofing because he was told to under the previous regime.

He's been poor for a while, but it seems every game under Kenny he gets slightly better. Keep up improving and by the end of the season we might have the Skrtel we used to know again. The ball playing CB we last saw circa 2008/2009.

Thought he played well today but he's obviously not comfortable in front of goal ;D

I think he's shown steady improvement after a truely dire patch under Hodgson. Long term I don't think he's the right CB for us but i'm happy with his effort and performance these last few games.

He is not having as bad season as people make him to have. He was one of our best performers until Newcastle game in december. Check your memories or match threads mates. Then he had a terrible month with 4-5 shocking games. Now he seems to gain a bit of confidence back and seems to be working on his weaknesses ( heading, no shirt pulling)  which is a good sign.

And he is the only player ( with Pepe) who played every single minute in league and bar 2-3 Europa League games and Northampton disaster also all other games. Maybe the return of Carragher and a bit of rest could be good for him.

Still, would like to see him against Drogba and especially Torres on Sunday.

His forward runs yesterday were, in my opinion, on par with Agger's. And his passing was really crisp. Shame about his finishing though...

Have to agree.  I might have rather have him on the right instead of Carr since he's way better on the ball - it'll keep teams from shading too heavily to Agger's side...

Skrtel injury concern:

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6736854,00.html

Martin Skrtel has revealed he had to take an injection to complete Liverpool's weekend triumph at Chelsea.

The Reds centre-back was one of the heroes on Sunday as Kenny Dalglish's side recorded their fourth successive victory with a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

All the hype centred around Fernando Torres, who joined Chelsea from Liverpool on transfer deadline day in a British record Ģ50million deal, but it was Raul Meireles who grabbed the headlines with the match-winning strike.

Spaniard Torres was virtually anonymous before being substituted midway through the second half, with the defensive trio of Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger and Skrtel keeping their former team-mate at bay.

But the 26-year-old Skrtel admitted he required medical attention to last the 90 minutes after injuring himself in the opening period.

"I stretched my groin or a ligament on my left leg, I don't even know exactly what's wrong with it," the Slovakian, who has joined up with his national team for the midweek friendlies, explained to SITA.

"At half-time I swallowed a pain-killing pill and got an injection so that I could finish the game. I would not like to speak yet about whether it will be serious or not.

"The most important thing was that I could finish the game."

Hope it's nothing serious, he's been playing well recently.
