Well well, bit of a surprise we've stuck with a similar back line to Stoke. Happy with that though as we at least looked solid defensively in that match. Very little attacking threat in there though. :-\

Fuck it. COME ON REDMEN!!
really? Riera, aquilani and degen all very offensive

no defenders on the bench save darby... :-\

if a CB gets injured in the game we can move Carra over, drop Degen down to RB and put on Maxi.    Or move Carra over and put on Darby

degen has been excellent going forward, can completely see why he starts

Watch him in the first 15 minutes of the Stoke game again. It is probably the worst 15 minutes by any player this season. He didn't get that much better during the rest of the match.

Probably one of the strongest teams available I guess, despite defence looking slightly shakey. Made up to see Riera back though.

Time for Aquilani to prove his worth methinks.

Kuyt up front? Not good...

Didnt we buy him from Feyenoord as a prolific striker?

disappointed degen starts ahead of Maxi.

fuck me.

very disappointed

Agree, would have liked to see Maxi. But maybe this means Maxi isn't in the shape he needs to be. Who knows? But im almost willing to bet my left testicle that Degen won't play 90 minutes today!

kuyt up front- worked once in 4 years against a shit newcastle side
aquilani off the top- debatable but lets see how he does with minimal talent around him
degen on the right- skill and pace but no game intelligence in attack.

I don't get that. Pacheco is totally unproven, we really don't know if he'll be any good, especially in a game like this. Kuyt has a habit of scoring in big games, even when playing average. I think he's a better choice.

Ye but when exactly is he going to get a bloody chance to prove himself?Kuyts been poor lately and i reckon he is just in need of a good rest..As i said prob why im not picking the team but would have liked to see pachecko in the team..Can see Degen and riera switching throughout the game just to give isnua a bit of backup with degen.Albeit he aint the best defensive but he is better then Riera!

Seems like a good line up. Degen on the right making up for Carra's lack of pace. Aquilani in the Gerrard role. My Ideal day would be 3-0 Aquilani, Maxi and Pacheco, Aquilani with the assists...

Decent team in the circumstances. Would have liked to have seen Maxi start, but Rafa knows his fitness better than us.

Nice to see Pacheco on the bench as well - hope he gets a good run out.

RB is OK, but not LB. Surprising that Aurelio isn't included.
