And I must say I did it find it odd you quoting Mandela when not so long ago you were telling all and sundry that this country would be no worse off under the BNP.

I was, the Alonso issue divided supporters for a fair while.  Those of us who trusted Rafa and those of you who were trying to support Alonso FC.  The Alonso issue got pretty heated for a while, as you can tell by my reponse.  If there is a choice between Rafa and one of the players, then there's only one winner for me, everytime.
Admittedly, Alonso had a cracking last season, and Rafa tried to keep him, but it took us two turgid seasons to yield that last one.

"You'll Never Walk Alone" is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Carousel.

In the musical, in the second act, Nettie Fowler, the cousin of the female protagonist Julie Jordan, sings "You'll Never Walk Alone" to comfort and encourage Julie when her husband, Billy Bigelow, the male lead, is killed during a failed robbery. It is reprised in the final scene to encourage a graduation class of which Louise (Billy and Julie's daughter) is a member. Billy watches this ceremony during his return to earth.

Because the song is included in the musical's school graduation finale, it has become a standard at graduation ceremonies in the United States.

No offence intended, and I'm all for the rousing 'get behind the boss' stuff, but trying to draw parallels between Mandela and Benitez (albeit implicitly) is a little bit tasteless.

Read a few wonderful things tonight and would like to share them as I think they are pertinent to our situation.
This speech was made by Teddy Roosevelt (ex USA president, yes you at the back  ::) ) in 1910.
It's called The Man in the Arena.

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.
