My personal favorite Maxi moment has to be Bolton away last season thousands of Redmen bouncing away to the Maxi song. The away highlight of the Hodgson "era"

Ta and good luck Maxi

Absolutely loved that day out ;D

Will be a real shame if that is his goodbye, always liked his passing style and fluidity

Did he really only feature in 10 PL games this season? What a fucking waste, no wonder he's off.

The reason he only featured in 10 PL games this season is because he's off.

Great player, great fella, wish he had played more but I'm made up he's getting the move he wanted last summer and wish him all the best.

If he wanted to go, then the little that he has been used this season would have hardly convinced him to change his mind...

Don't really understand that way of thinking. We've used Kuyt much more, he's apparently off too. And with Henderson playing on the right plenty of times, we sure could've used Maxi a lot more to take some pressure off him (which he's needed in my opinion). I understand the need to play in new players for the future, but you have to think of the now as well. 10 games for Maxi is too little, no matter if he's off at the end of the season.

Wish we got him a few years earlier when he was at his peak, but he's been a good for us too, and seems like a great professional. Players who rely on their movement, touch and quick thinking are always useful, even when they get older. Hopefully we'll replace him with a better player, but I wouldn't mind having him around for a few more years. But I think he's wanted to move for a while, and can understand that. Good luck in the future.

Great player, not used as much this season as I'd have wanted but if he is off back to Argentina then you have to give others a go.  Kuyt I think is different, with him I don't think it was as nailed on he was going to leave and perhaps a better re-sale value?

Anyway.  Maxi, great player and like Garcia I hope we still give your song a good old sing from time to time.

Good player, Good Pro and will always be welcome back as a fan!

Hang on, hang on.  There is no official word confirming that he's leaving yet is there? His Twitter post was a general comment on it being the last home game of the season, not HIS last game.  With us playing in Europe next season, I can still see him and Dirk staying for one more year.

Exactly what I was going to post last night.. I reckon he will leave (as he waved goodbye :() But his tweet doesn't necessarily mean it like that does it?

Yes, you understand it when you read the spanish version that is written in plural and probably reflects better what they mean.
They both say goodbye to the fans (but as a team).

Anyway, I also believe that Maxi is leaving..

Frustrated to see him go, great player who has been shockingly underused.

He's younger than Gerrard and Carragher, don't understand the "ah too bad he's so old" sentiments either. And he's still good enough to feature in an Argentina front 6 that is selected from the likes of Tevez, Messi, Aguero, Higuain, Pastore, Di Maria, Lavezzi, Cambiasso, Mascherano, Gago, and Riquelme.

Maxi. Poor at first then much better then never played.

Says a lot about the total chaos at LFC regarding transfers that a player like Maxi is good is about to leave. It not even organised chaos.

Single biggest thing we need to do is to overhaul players recruitment and selection. Kenny from next season its totally on you. Fingers X.

hope we can hold on to him for another season. we need his creativity and goal scoring potential for at least another season.  he is a good option for the bench and the odd euro cup game. he should have had more time on the pitch this season.

Yeah, I saw that quote from Kenny.

Pretty sure Aurelio, Dirk & Maxi are gone though, I'd guess we'll listen to offers for one or two others as well.

I don't want him to leave but even if he stays, all I see is another season of us being perplexed at why Kenny isnt playing him.

Kennys only leg to stand on is that maxi is oldish and won't be here for long. Playing him next season would require him to put his hands up and say I got this one completely wrong. And he's doing that with an older maxi who will show signs of decline sadly.

Are you sure about that? I'm not saying you are wrong, it's just I honestly don't know if that was the reasoning behind Maxi not being played.

I heard that Maxi was the cause of a few arguments and the strain in the relationship between Brukner and Dalglish because Brukner considered Maxi to have an on-going injury that had to be managed for prevention and wouldn't clear Maxi for many minutes, but Maxi said he felt able to play more and wanted to and so Kenny wanted more say over playing him.

The source I heard that from might not be credible though and you might be right that it was because Maxi is definitely going. I don't know.

No, I completely agree with you like. I don't think Kenny saying that means anything, other than that we're a behind closed-doors club, which is the way it should be. Obviously he'll be looking to move on Joe Cole and Aquilani (if he wanted them he wouldn't have loaned them out this season), with Maxi and Kuyt supposedly wanting to go as well. 5 players. But if he'd said he was looking at moving on players then everyone would be talking about the "flops" of this season.

I think Maxi doesn't do enough running for Kenny. If he was a bit more mobile I'd imagine that he's the perfect type of player for the type of football Kenny wants to play. With Kuyt, I think it's the opposite, not tidy enough. Whatever you think about Downing, he is a good passer of the ball, doesn't give it away as much as some wingers. I don't have a clue though by the way, before someone comes in with some stats to refute me  ;D You'd think that an intelligent and technically proficient player like Maxi would be perfect for that style.

Would love it if Maxi did stay though.

Total madness, Maxi offers much more than both of them whenever he plays. They should both be shipped off before him.

My favourite "Maxi Moment" would be Chelsea away this season when I heard 15 minutes before the kick off on the way to the pub that he was starting. So promptly put a tenner on him to score first goal at 26-1.

wasted him this season to be honest. sad because he seemed like one of the only ones in the squad who wanted goals and took chances with his position to get in a goal scoring position. sad to see him go. oh and his volley in the 2006 world cup remains one of the best world cup goals i've seen

I believe nothing that Kenny says in a press conference mate  :D He did say 'he doesn plan for anyone to leave but lets see what happens'. Maxi will leave in the summer.

Happy that he's playing today, but shaking my head at why he's playing now when its obvious he's going. Hope sterling gets a good run out today

I've heard that rumour too mate, but there is no doubt that Kenny is pushing his signings and younger players who he wants to give game time and experience to.

Surely in that case he'd play Coates more then?

I don't think he or Steve Clarke thought he was ready.

May be the case, but when you want to win games you need to play your best players - Fine in the league and that, but for example in the fa cup final i was tearing my hair our we didn't start him ahead of downing

I understand that mate, I don't think we have struck the right balance this year. I think Downing should have started the cup final on the right and Maxi should have started on the left ahead of Craig who is best as a sub.
