it's not a silly post .
I can't understand how people have the abilty to defend him after his perfromance today ?
most of the people here thinks Voronin was a shite player and I agree , but do you know what ? he is better than Ngog , stupid player .

Pacheco is better , Nemeth is better .. unfortunatly Nemeth isn't here , so it's time to give a chance to Pacheco .

Nemeth has never played a first team game and Pacheco is not a centre forward. Fuck off and stop embarrassing yourself.

why isn't anyone talking about Spurs or Citeh. Spurs, fuckin c*nt of a team drew with Hull at home. Imagine the media if we did it. Citeh on the other hand lost. So in hindsight, dont think a point away at Stoke was bad. The real deal is to win on Wednesday.

Anyone who say's we turned up yesterday not to win are way off base. We went there to try and win but it was one of those difficult games...I'd take a point than none to be honest..Stoke were well up for it and gave it a massive go.

I agree.  First we had to go there and show we could fight, which we did, and Pulis even complimented us on that.  Once we'd withstood all that, we had a few chances, but the final ball wasn't clinical enough.  I thought the line-up and subs were spot on for a tough game at Stoke.  Even a fully-firing Liverpool of last spring would have been in for a tough game at their place.
Having said all that, I think Kuyt should have scored at the end.  Pity.

insua and kuyt need to be dropped / rested / rotated - call it what you will.

insua is having the usual second season dip and just needs to be taken out of the firing line for a bit.
Kuyt just isnt cutting it. I admire his work rate and attitude but without yossi, gerrard and torres we need someone with a little bit of cunning upfront not to mention control of the ball. and he should have scored !!!

That was pretty shocking out there today. If Reina wasn't the best goalkeeper that ever walked the planet if not the universe, we'd have lost that with plenty of time to spare. Throw in the Villa game too, and that's 4 points out of 6 that Reina I think is almost singlehandedly responsible for banking. It would have been 6 points if Insua and the rest of his defense actually listened to him and tore off the line to catch players offside. You could see Reina berating them to move up, move up, to no avail. All season we haven't had men on the posts, and today, Insua looked like a lost schoolboy behind Reina, standing on the line for some odd reason, not even on the post but towards the middle of the sticks. I thought it was bizarre, and he was obviously uncomfortable with whatever instructions he had to carry out.

Up until we scored, I had been asking myself where a goal could possibly come from. The pitch was clogged chocka, no space for clever little runs, no players with dribbling skills enough to pass players, any crosses were sure to be cut out by the Stoke big men, and Ngog couldn't hold the ball up long enough for help to arrive. Even so, I thought a legitimate part of the game plan should have been to try and get free kicks around the box for Aurelio to hit, and once we went ahead, I thought we played a bit better than Stoke.

May I just take one minute here to voice my utter dislike of Stoke City Football Club as it currently lines up. Lumbering oafs, these Stoke players are, with the exception of Tuncay and possibly Etherington, and I thought we were getting fouled all over the place. Anyway.

Our substitutions changed everything. While we're short of options, I thought taking off a fullback for winger (on his debut, mind, with no experience of a Premier League scrap) and then bringing on a lightweight creative midfielder for an attacker who, whilst largely ineffective, at least served to keep the Stoke central defenders honest, was bizarre. I thought we needed some beef to close it out, or at the very least, if we wanted to appear like we were going for a second, taking Insua off, sliding Aurelio back, and playing  with 3 CBs and 2 FBs could have possibly seen us through. I thought Insua was having a shocker, and he seemed to be making a lot of mistakes, both with the ball, and with respect to positioning. Adding two relatively new lightweights to this thumping game away to Stoke didn't serve to shore up our back, or get forward.

Hey presto - the goal we've all been waiting for - game over. Still, it could have been worse. We're playing for 3rd or 4th right now, and we didn't move, in fact, we gained on City.

I have no idea where the goals are going to come from.
That's a concerned post mate. Just a note on the players on the post issue, Rafa has never implemented that, its not part of the zonal marking philosophy, but I think its essential for every corner. You only have to watch any PL game to evidence its advantages.

kuyt was running around like a headless chicken out there i cant believe this guy has forgotten how to play striker, when Ngog needed support and service kuyt was halfway down the pitch chasing stoke players.

But at least the players had some intent today problem was there was no class.

Can't really argue with any of that El C, but i'd like to add that for at least the last half an hour of the game I was keeping an eye on the touchline whenever the camera allowed and Rafa was screaming at the defenders as a unit to come forward and not be camped on our 18 yard box. Every shot of him, that's what he was doing as he knew that the team was inviting attack. Reina was the only other one that was shouting at the defense to push out and it frustrated the shit out of me. The occasional yelp from Carra wasn't helping and I really wanted one of Masch or Lucas to bollock the defenders and help pepe in convincing them to push out, which would have really worked in our favour.

We're so screwed at the moment because we're fucked if we do and fucked if we don't. I want to give mass credit to the travelling Kop again for being so utterly amazing (again!) yesterday! With the options available to us for kick off, and by options I mean 100% fit players, and the knowledge that Stoke were going to be all guns blazing from the start after the comments in the press this week, I think the team choice was right and it should have yielded 3 points for us, but for the woodwork, 1 bit of shit defending and one of the worst reffing displays i've seen since Malouda got that penalty at anfield.

Thought that was our most encouraging performance for a long time. At least we showed some balls and character. Our best defensive display of the season too.

Bit of bad luck is what cost us. Take the positives and move on to Spurs.

I agree.

It is though. Leeds and Manchester hate each other so its clear that when they play each other Leeds being the lesser team will always give 110% its a derby. Doesnt matter what league each other are in.

Reading and Liverpool have no history at all and you would think Liverpool should win no matter what.

Going the match, getting pissed and rolling in twatted is more constructive than watching your telly/a stream and posting shite on threads like this.

At least City lost & Spurs drew. Now, if only Villa would lose then we are still very much in the race for 4th.

It was still a wasted opportunity tho.

Even if Villa win it will be still 4 points as they will be on 38 points. It goes without saying its better if they drop points today however in my eyes we must beat Spurs on Weds we really must.

One thing about Insua on the line in the build up to the goal

makes no difference how quickly he came out becuase when the stoke player made contact with the ball, knocking it back across goal towards huth, carra was playing huth well on side

huth just stuck his foot out and bang goal

EDIT: just as i thought this is taken just after the ball is headed back across goal

huth is on his way in and well onside no matter what Insua did to come off the line carra should have stuck there instead of be drawn towards the ball. but shit happens what can you do it was well worked and we got done :'(

Im not suprised anymore. The only thing is at least we didnt lose.

To think these days, any team can get points out of us, is truly saddening. Our club is being turned into a laughing stock, and this isnt JUST down to the owners, whether it maybe the players or the manager aswell, is left to be debated.

I aint looking forward to spurs. We field a defensive lineup and invite them and well get battered.

Also with Kuyt, same old Kuyt, nuff said.

Suprised people cling on to him like hes the best winger whos going through a bad form at the moment, because hes always been awful, apart from last season where he was superb. A meer blip of luck (considering a shit load of people here talk about our team having bad luck) on his part, and playing in a confident, free flowing team made him play well.

Kuyts even since he arrived in this club has been average at best, but hes been shite, this season, and the season before last season. I feel thats his true colour. I just hope Rafa will replace him with Maxi or Benny, he simply is dire.

We should have won.
Everything continues to go against us. Thought we did alright, but when we only have 1-0, there's always a danger and yet again we suffered. Naturally, Lucas should have been given the penalty in the 1st half. Instead he got booked. That sums everything up at the moment. Even when we're doing things right, we suffer. Had Kuyt scored in overtime, things would have been so very different. It would have been just the kind of victory we need. Still short of confidence though.

What we need now is players with character. More of the batteling spirit that we saw yesterday! The pressure is immense on the players and Rafa. I just hope that we have a few players who can not only show character, but also guide us through this mess with some quality performances. Very much like Benayoun did at the same time last year. Now is the time to step forward!

Still in need for 15 more wins for a title challenge. It's not looking bright, but let's start with a win vs Spurs and see where that takes us.
