I honestly believe that the English football fan is getting exactly what they deserve.
Not to denigrate the efforts of FSF and SOS, and excepting organisations like them who have put a lot of work in, the average English fan is a lazy, moaning, selfish twat.
They all love to have a whinge about the cost, the foreign ownership, the shite stewarding, the ridiculous prices of away tickets, the lack of atmosphere, but very few of them will get of their arses to do anything about it.
Until there's widespread, co-ordinated boycotting of games and/or merchandise buying, which hits clubs in the pocket, they'll pay lip service to the issue of high ticket prices, but won't do anything concrete.
Simple market forces; while there's 45,000 people willing to pay £50 a head every home game, the clubs will do fuck all. Makes no odds to them whether the 45,000 are moaning about the price or not, as long as they actually pay it.
To quote the song lyrics; It's sheep we're up against.
I took a personal decision a couple of years ago that I was fed up helping to keep snidey, badge kissing, gobshite footballers in pink Range Rovers, so I fucked it all off.
Haven't spent a single penny at the club since. Don't even miss it any more.
Modern football fans are quite welcome to modern football.
