I stumbled across the gardners of the council's parks and gardens service this week, tending the flower beds on the terrace in Stanley park, and I have to say, what a sterling job they've done, and are doing.

The place looked fantastic.

Nah I disagree with your discord. Ultimately we are scouse not English, there's proven times when we need to stick together. But we're not an island on our own, we are, like it or not part of the UK in which wealth is generated and prosperity for our neighborhoods stems.
This week will see at least 50,000 visitors to the city in a showcase event. The parks should be clean, beautiful, colourful and inclusive. North Liverpool needs inward investment from innovative and forward thinking people mate, don't dismiss your regions, indeed country's business opportunities for the sake of a throw away comment.
We fight our corner when need be mate, not unnecessarily.

Took this on my phone today from the fifth floor of one of the buildings in Old Hall Street. Kind of cool with the mist coming in. Not the best as it was from behind a window, would have loved to have gone up onto the roof with my decent camera.

Took a few pics down the Pier Head earlier in the week, and whilst editing them down, these ones just reminded me of this.

In my Liverpool Home, In my Liverpool Home
We speak with an accent exceedingly rare,
Meet under a statue exceedingly bare,
And if you want a Cathedral, we've got one to spare
 In my Liverpool Home . . . . .

Way back in the forties the world it went mad
Mister Hitler threw at us everything that he had
When the smoke and dust had all cleared from the air
"Thank God" said the ald fella, "The Pier Head's still there"

I was down there on Wednesday this week, when it was quite a foggy day.

Excellent for taking certain pics, as it was a very moody and atmospheric day.

Really like that. It's as if the city has left the earth and is floating magisterially in the sky; finally and unequivocally divorcing itself from the rest of England  ;)

Any help appreciated.

I think the original was taken by scouserdave

It looks like he's posted that resolution up on wikimedia commons here and every copy you see on the web including yours has probably come from that.

You could try dropping him a pm though and see if he'll let you have a higher resolution version though I haven't seen him post in here for ages.

He is (or was?) a professional photographer, hence the quality of his shots which are absolutely superb if you have a look back on this thread where he used to post, so don't expect it to be free as he does have to survive and feed his family. It's pretty kind of him to upload that one to wiki for free use. It's a cracking picture.

They're not looking for the grand vista or anything like that here, but I'm sure with all the cameras about some of the shots will be worthy of a spot in this place; http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/mol/exhibitions/caravan-gallery/

I didn't know where to put this, so delete/move it if it's not pertinent. A hand drawn 'map' of Liverpool. Particularly liked the nods to Purple Aki and The Grafton.

I've got a massive print of that on my living room wall.
Very nice. Maps are the 'theme' in our house, I've got to get a couple more to finish it off.
