Sissoko calls on authorities to act over Juve chants


MILAN, Nov 26 (Reuters) - Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has called on the authorities to take further action after his club’s fans were again accused of racist chanting.

Juve were forced to play a game behind closed doors last season after fans sang “a black Italian does not exist” towards Inter Milan’s Palermo-born striker Mario Balotelli.

The club were then fined by the Italian league after supporters chanted “jump up and down and Balotelli will die” at Sunday’s 1-0 home win over Udinese but further offensive songs were heard at Wednesday’s Champions League defeat by Bordeaux.

“We as players have repeated our position against racism at every opportunity,” Mali international Sissoko, who is black, told Italian radio on Thursday.

“Juventus as a club have taken all the necessary steps. Now the institutions must intervene.”

UEFA could investigate the chants in Bordeaux but because they happened before the game started they might not be included in the referee’s report and hence the likelihood of any sanction would be reduced.

Second-placed Juventus host Serie A leaders Inter on Dec. 5 and Inter coach Jose Mourinho said he believed there was a chance the game would be moved away from Turin.

Remember the incident from last season. Juve fans claimed they were not 'racist' and targeted Balotelli due to his show boating.

I think we all know that football can attract some very peculiar people and I think we all know that crowds allow for a certain anonymity and coupled with the feeling of belonging or wanting to belong... some get carried away.

Clubs should show they truly object to this type of behaviour and ban these people for life.

I'm glad such news are being reported in details abroad and that the chants have been translated, so everybody will understand what a bunch of twats those Juve fans are. Aside from the racism itself, which is obviously disgusting, what's really appalling is the fact Balotelli wasn't playing against their team and after being warned after the game vs Udinese, they kept singing those songs and even did the same abroad! I have no words to define such retards properly, I doubt that even a proper punishment handed to their team will make them stop these chants. Credit to Sissoko for his statements anyway, he's a class player unlike some of his teammates who denied there's racism towards Balotelli.

May be you are right, I just watched some youtube videos with blatant racism in Northern Europe. So yes, you are probably correct.
