Our players commitment does not seem to be all there for me of late, especially tonight against Debrecen they did not seem to want to attack. When we score a goal we seem to sit back and lull about with the ball, with no progression up the field or sense of purpose.
Nobody seems to want to take the game to the opposition, maybe they are just not able to?
Glen Johnson is most fustrating for me, I felt sometimes the ball was layed for him to run onto (often by Masch) and bring up the field, instead, he just played it back to the central defence, killing off all momentum in the attack. We payed 17 million pounds for you Glen, so somebody would create things down the right, not sit there and look pretty. I honestly think Arbeloa would have been more influential tonight, offering more support to Kuyt (who did not have a good game either).
Ngog, he got the goal, (all credit to the lad and is doing brilliant for a 20 year old under the circumstances) is really not capable of leading the line at this level. But he puts the effort in which others do not.
Nobody bar Stevie tonight seemed to have the authority or determination to take the game by the scruff of the neck, yet, it seemed anyone who could of been bothered really had a chance to shine tonight.
What annoy's me most though is of the one in ten, we have won, it came against, Manchester United, probably the best team we have played. Yet we don't f**king turn up for Debrecen.
How come we can perform against Manchester United but not a poor Debrecen?
How come we can outplay Lyon away from home, but be defeated at Anfield?
In my opinion, the players our not committed enough, they our only turning up when they are ordered to. Against Lyon (away) and United, we press, give them no time on the ball, and attack with real purpose and determination. Against Debrecen none of them can be f**king arsed.
Well some of you better start showing some pride and effort, because at the moment this team is embarressing itself. Come on, some body take authority, somebody make a man of themselves on that pitch, one of you put a bit of f**king effort in. For your own dignity, as well as ours.
Roll on the Europa League!
