England tour to SA 2009
« on: November 10, 2009, 07:38:09 pm »
Its summer time and that means the cricket season has arrived and with it arrives the English and their band of exports. After a successful Ashes victory the Poms will be confident of putting in a good performance. The on field battles will be interesting with no love lost between the teams and with the arrival of our favourite boo boy Pietersen the series will definitely be spicy.

The SA team is well balanced and settled with perhaps only a question mark over who opens with the finally fit Smith. The Poms will need to decide the order of their batting lineup and bowling attack. It should be an even series...so let the best team win

This is the third then, cos there was one started about a month ago I think when the squad was announced. Think it's got Seth Effrika in the title though

How is the weather going to be for the One dayers?

If it's nice weather for all 5 SA will win if there is loads of rain and shit dunno what the score might be.

Test series I think we'll lose too. 3-0.

Don't really care about the 2020 stuff.

Is Degs doing to fantasy thing as well, if we can get enough people to commit to playing?

The one in the Ashes was absolutely brilliant but then again it depends if anyone has the time to collate all the scores at the end of the day.

The weather up in Johannesburg and Centurion has been strange, not very hot and raining quite a bit. The rest of the country has been the same, it seems likely that some of the matches may be rain affected

Collingwood out for todays T20, so Cook captains.

All eyes on Morgan to see if he can repeat his absolute brilliance from the other day. Some of those sixes, especially the one over the keeper and the massssssive pull which went out the ground. He's a special talent.
The match kicks off in 30 minutes ya silly twat

Beautiful sunshine in Centurion however at this time of the year, having lived about 10 mins from the ground, I wouldn't be surprised if it rains later in the day.

SA have won the toss and will bat first.

Do a lot of fans travel for this usually? Only I'm in Cape Town during / just after the third test and flying out of Johannesburg during the 4th test so just wondering if I'll end up delayed at airports or marked as a pissed-up cricket fan because I'm English?

It will be hard for England to get a result here unless they start smearing South Africa in the same manner that Smith and Bosman did.

Even then, they will have to make sure that they don't lose too many wickets themselves.

Are we really opening up the innings in a 20-20 match chasing 240 with Alistair Cook.

Dear me. Just got out thank God.

134 from 34 balls

4 a ball

When it gets to 8 a ball becomes unlikely England, so get a move on.

Why didn't they open the innings with Wright or Trott or even Morgan who must be feeling a million dollars.

Who knows, they may have got a flyer and put their bowlers under pressure but know, fcuking Cook prods and pansies about for half the innings.

Leave him alone

Batting for stumps, bring in Boycs, he'll blunt this furious attack

Absolutely, you've got to have a look at the bowling and see off the shine and hardness for about 10-12 overs.

Fantastic opening partnership, the match was effectively over after the first 10 overs of the SA innings. 170 of 81 balls for the 1st wicket is unbelievable. Hopefully its a sign of good form to come

It was announced today that there would be no 3rd umpire referrals in the test series.

Personally I think its great, I cant stand the referal system, it takes away a bit of what is cricket. What do we have to moan about if every decision is the correct one. Just get on with the game

1st Test starting this morning

0800: ENGLAND WIN THE TOSS and put South Africa in. Big news that - this pitch looks as if it might be lively early on - and bigger still is the news that Steyn is definitely out - late injury woe. In comes 29-year-old Friedel de Wet for his Test dayboo. It's all happening...
